Found February 17, 2012 on SteelerAddicts:
In one of the interviews that Kevin Colbert did recently he was asked about Marcus Gilbert moving to LT. He said it could happen but it’s Tomlin’s decision; Gilbert on the left side and Willie Colon on right. That obviously depends on how the draft goes as Colbert indicated also, what happens with Max Starks, etc. It got me thinking though on how the line could potentially look for the Steelers next year. With Max Starks’ future up in the air right now and Colon coming off another season of injured reserve it’s possible the cast of players that we’ve seen occupy the line in front of Ben Roethlisberger could be significantly different. Something that I would be completely ok with because the retooling of a deficient line that began a couple years ago, needs to continue. I would be happy if Gilbert would stay at RT, Starks could back back at LT and they draft Glenn or Osemele for Guard but that’s not a likely scenario right now. There are only so many draft picks to take such players ...

Fitting Mike Wallace Under The Steelers 2012 Salary Cap While Wearing Franchise Tag

Since my last post on Mike Wallace, as it relates to trying to protect him via free agency, I have had a few questions about how the Steelers can possibly fit Wallace underneath the cap by the start of the new league year if they indeed were to place the franchise tag of $9.4 million on him. Let's assume that the Steelers tender all of their other restricted free agents and...

Art Rooney II Answers To Charges Of Being A Meddlesome Owner

Ever since it was announced that Bruce Arians had retired as the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator, team president Art Rooney II has been accused of being a meddlesome owner as it relates to not letting head coach Mike Tomlin make his own decisions in regards to his own coaching staff.. Although the Arians exit was termed a retirement in a statement by Tomlin, Arians was...

MONEY PROBLEMS

Can Steelers afford Mike Wallace?

Mike Wallace is a restricted free agent and the Steelers will have to make some moves in order to keep him long term. Will they?

Rooney II has things well under control for the Steelers

This whole offseason for the Steelers has been more of a circus than most of us can probably remember in a long time, if ever.  At least that’s how it appears from the outside right? Who really hired Todd Haley? Does Ben think he should have had more say in who was hired as the new OC? That’s just the tip of the ice berg as we all know but the fact is that Art Rooney II is the...

We have known for a few weeks now that former Pittsburgh Steelers center Dermontti Dawson will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this coming summer and now we know who will be his presenter. Jory Rand reports via Twitter Saturday night that Dawson has told him that his former high school coach at Bryan Station, Steve Parker, will be his presenter at his induction in...

Should Ravens try to acquire Steelers’ Wallace?

I was watching ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and “NFL Live” this afternoon and the topic was restricted free agent Mike Wallace of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers could have a tough time retaining the third-year wide receiver if they place a first-round restricted tender on him. Tim Hasselbeck suggested the Ravens could sign him away from Pittsburgh by offering the speedster...

Goodell, Dayton to meet in Minn. Capitol

Gov. Mark Dayton said Thursday that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers will come to Minnesota to meet with state lawmakers and urge progress on the struggling effort to build a new stadium for the Vikings. Dayton said he'd convene a Friday meeting in his office with Goodell, Art Rooney and the Legislature's four caucus leaders. Rooney...

Rooney says Tomlin hired Haley

There’s been a lot of protesting coming out of Pittsburgh lately.  Some may wonder whether they’re protesting too much. On Thursday, owner Art Rooney II told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that coach Mike Tomlin made the decision to hire offensive coordinator Todd Haley. “I think the bottom line is, Mike was comfortable that’s…
