Ohio State’s Biggest 2019 Star Is Returning To Team Up With One The Best Buckeyes Ever
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

When Ohio State’s defensive end, Chase Young, stepped onto the field in 2019, fans were about to witness one of the best seasons they ever saw from a defensive end. In 12 games, Young recorded 16.5 sacks and saw himself in New York at the Heisman Trophy ceremony. He saw his former Buckeye teammate and LSU’s quarterback Joe Burrow win the award, but it was very impressive that a defensive end got to the ceremony.

Ohio State would go on to lose to Clemson in the playoffs that season, and Young saw his NFL dream come true months later when he was taken number two overall by Washington.

Ohio State’s Chase Young Had A Shocking NFL Start

Young was a stud in his rookie year, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, but then things came crashing down for him. He got injured in 2021, saw only three games in 2022, and was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023 season.

Young was able to play for a Super Bowl but lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and he saw himself enter free agency.

Chase Young Will Be Heading To New Orleans In 2024

NFL free agency started a week ago, and Young was waiting around to find his new team, but he finally found his home in 2024 and will be heading to the New Orleans Saints

According to Adam Schefter, Young signed a one-year 13 million dollar deal.

Young Will Reunite With Some Former Buckeye Teamates

Young will be teaming up with his former Buckeyes teammate, Chirs Olave . Olave played receiver for Ohio State from 2018-2021 and was drafted in the first round of the 2022 draft. Young and He played a massive part in why the 2019 team had so much success. Young will also play alongside linebacker Pete Werner, who played for the 2019 Buckeyes.

It’s neat to see Young, Olave, and Werner all share the field again, and it brings back memories of one of the best Ohio State teams in school history.
