Offensive lineman Lance Louis, still rehabilitating from a season-ending knee injury, signed Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins.
Louis tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in November with the Chicago Bears. He said his rehabilitation has gone well, and he hopes to be ready for training camp in July.
''Last time I went to the doctor, he told me I was ahead of schedule,'' Louis said. ''I definitely want to be there for training camp and competing with those guys.''
The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Louis spent the past four seasons with the Bears, where he made 28 starts at guard and tackle. They drafted him in the seventh round in 2009.
He said the Dolphins appealed to him in part because he thinks they're improving after four consecutive losing seasons.
''It's a nice city, and a great team on the rise,'' Louis said. ''I feel like Miami is going to be one of the teams to be reckoned with this year.''

According to Vaughn McClure, the Chicago Bears are expected to re-sign free agent CB Kelvin Hayden.
Hayden, 29, has found almost no interest up to this point, but the Bears did lose free agent D.J. Moore to the Panthers last week. They could use help at slot corner and Hayden, but he was relegated to playing 472 snaps last season and appeared to be a bit of liability in coverage...

Mike Wallace signed a five-year, $60 million deal with the Miami Dolphins the first day free agency began in the NFL this year. Wallace had long been linked with the Dolphins, so it was no surprise to see him sign with the team. What is somewhat surprising is hearing that he wanted to go to Miami so badly he actually turned down more money from the Vikings.
Wallace’s father spoke...

Little has been reported as to whom Alex Smith’s replacement as 49ers clipboard holder/Colin Kaepernick understudy will be.
Still, no realistic candidate has presented himself yet. But the Niners did reportedly bring in Pat White (yes, that Pat White) for a workout. For some reason.
If you remember, White is the former West Virginia playmaker and Dolphins flame out who fell...
