Found December 21, 2012 on Waiting For Next Year: Yardbarker Blogger Network
Over the past two weeks (part 1 and part 2), my good friend and colleague Rick has posted updates on some historic NFL records being accomplished by the current trio of rookies on the Browns offense: QB Brandon Weeden, RB Trent Richardson and WR Josh Gordon. In his initial post, I helped to provide some of the backbone research. Yes, I never gave enough credit to Rick for his research and his writing as well, but I did help a little bit. This week, since we haven’t provided an update yet, I thought I’d swing back into the picture to provide the latest update and give some more historical context to Weeden’s rookie season. Of course, this hasn’t been a perfect season for the much-maligned 29-year-old rookie from Oklahoma State (by way of the New York Yankees). He’s been highly criticized in many ways and certainly didn’t have a good performance against the Redskins in the home finale on Sunday. But, based on my research, he’s still OK compared to other QBs that have started every gam...

Browns Fans See The Writing On The Wall “Ok I was a big Weeden supporter. I have seen the light”

“He just plain out sucks!” That is starting to be the consensus in the Cleveland Area. Fans that jumped on the Brandon Weeden band wagon are ready to jump off. They didn’t like the ride and they have seen nothing but regression coming from the 29-year-old failing quarterback who already failed to make a career for himself in major league baseball. The Cleveland fans were let...

Browns vs. Broncos Reader’s Survey

The Browns weren’t going to be favored this week regardless of the outcome last week against the Redskins. After a three game winning streak ends and with two tough games and a presumably lame duck coach, will the wheels come off? Will this team continue to play hard to the final whistle this season? We’ll know soon enough, but I want to know what you think right now. Will Peyton...

Browns lose more starters to injury

Mohamed Massaquoi, Jordan Cameron and Tashaun Gipson will not travel with the Cleveland Browns to Denver. Coach Pat Shurmur announced Friday that all three are out for the game against the Broncos (11-3) on Sunday. Massaquoi, a starting wide receiver, has a knee injury. He missed five games earlier this season with a hamstring problem. Cameron has a concussion, sustained last week...

Another year for Weeden?

BEREA -- Nobody takes a beating faster or harder than a Cleveland Browns quarterback. In a town starved for wins and long-suffering because of losses (54 the past five years alone), a failure of a Browns quarterback draws condemnation faster than the Tasmaniam Devil spins. Brandon Weeden suffered that fate this week. He played the second-worst game of his career against Washington...

That’s...

Nick Saban May Be Faced With 100 Million Reasons To Come To The Cleveland Browns

You’ve heard the old saying “Money Talks and Bull S*&T walks. Well Nick Saban could be facing a 100 million dollars to come to the Cleveland Browns for 10 years. Browns running back Trent Richardson thinks the Saban thing is just a rumor and he doesn’t think Saban would make the jump into the NFL.  Maybe that is because T-Rich doesn’t know the facts of the situation...

The Denver Broncos were set to draft Brandon Weeden

Jason WhitneyBrandon Weeden was nearly a Denver Bronco When the Denver Broncos take on the Cleveland Browns this week, they’ll get a good look at Brandon Weeden, the quarterback that nearly was their future. This is because the Broncos brain trust, John Elway and head coach, John Fox were set to take Weeden as a developmental quarterback in last year’s NFL draft. Via the Denver...

Broncos were reportedly prepared to draft Brandon Weeden

When the Denver Broncos chose to go with Peyton Manning as their quarterback of the near future over Tim Tebow, very few questioned their decision. While Tebow had just led Denver on an improbable run to the divisional round of the playoffs, Manning is a future Hall of Famer who has already won a Super Bowl. Opportunities like that don’t come around all that often for a franchise...
