Found November 04, 2011 on Dawg Pound Daily:
At 3-4, the Cleveland Browns are looking as mediocre as any Orange and Brown squad in recent memory. This team isn’t a bottom-of-the-barrell team by any stretch; their defense, as we all know, is one of the top units in the league. But their offense… man. Watching Colt McCoy try to rally that anemic crew down the field is an exercise in patience. Make no mistake: this never was a playoff team. This is still very much a work in progress.Expectations tempered accordingly, the question needs to be asked: what, really, do the Browns have with McCoy? Bill Simmons recently rated him as the 40th-best QB in the league, stating:“About three weeks ago, I realized that Colt was a career backup with an awesome name and a strange peace settled over me. You will see Ron Washington trust Darren Oliver and Scott Feldman with a World Series title again before you see me betting on Colt McCoy.”Well, then. Personal dissatisfaction with Simmons aside, my gut reaction was “Damn, he’s absolutely right.” ...

Cleveland Browns provide helping hand to Sportsbook casinos, angst to Browns fans

Allow me to quickly touch on activity deemed illegal.  Here are the results and opening lines of the Cleveland Browns last three games: Cleveland (+6) 17 Oakland 24 Cleveland (-3) 6 Seattle 3 Cleveland (+9.5) 10 San Francisco 20 It’s hard to dismiss these consecutive game scores as a pure matter of coincidence, and that’s why I looked into it.  It turns out that the verdict...

Cleveland Browns Getting 11 Points For Sunday’s Game is It Enough For McCoy’s Offense?

The Cleveland Browns are getting 11 points for the Texans game, the way Colt McCoy has been playing this season it just may not be enough. I know I must be sounding like a broken record by now, however the Browns can’t seem to find the end-zone till late in the game. It would really be something if the Browns could get some points on the board in the first quarter. I have heard...

A team in search for a leader is still waiting on Colt McCoy: Bud Shaw's Sunday Sports Spin

What do we know of the Browns' young QB? Hardly anything. Nothing conclusively damning, but not much encouraging either.

Should the Browns hurry up?

BEREA, Ohio If the average Browns fan can see that Colt McCoy and the offense have been more effective in the two-minute or no huddle offense, why dont the Browns play to that strength from the get-go?Bear in mind, the Browns have been outscored 44-3 in the first quarter. Some of McCoys bright spots this season have been when he was in the shotgun. He led the Browns to a game-winning...

Cleveland Browns Offensive Struggles No Surprise

The Cleveland Browns have started off this season a deceiving 3-4. Their three wins have come against subpar teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, and the Miami Dolphins. Those three teams combined are a miserable 2-20. Granted, the Browns are under a new regime with rookie head coach Pat Shurmur at the helm. Not having an offensive coordinator has also put a...

NFL fines Justin Smith $15,000 for hit on Colt McCoy

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Justin Smith picked up a costly roughing the passer penalty on Sunday. Smith was fined $15,000 for hitting Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy in the head and neck area, reports. Smith was one of two 49ers players who got personal foul penalties Sunday against the Browns. The other one,…

Texans defense sets franchise record

If the attitude from the top is crucial, Texans coach Gary Kubiak won't let his defense relax even with another underwhelming offense on tap. The Browns on Sunday won't be any better than the Titans and Jaguars were before them, not with Colt McCoy performing unevenly as a second-year quarterback, and not with emergent tailback Peyton Hillis fighting a bum hamstring and...
