Previous performance in Oakland is all the warning Houston needs
In 2008, the Texans were doing their best to stay in the playoff hunt, heading in to Oakland at 7-7. They ended up laying one of the all-time eggs in franchise history that day, getting whipped by the Raiders 27-16, while looking sluggish and half-interested. Worst of all, this was the game that coined the name “JaMarcus Montana” around these parts for a while. Big Fat JaMarcus Russell treated the Texans’ secondary as if it was… well… uh, as if it was the current incarnation of the Texans’ secondary. Honestly – I think Russell could come back to the Raiders RIGHT NOW at 335 pounds or whatever he weighs – totally ripped on Purple Drank and could probably still drop 250 and 2 touchdowns on the secondary.
I would say there’s no way in hell the Texans repeat that performance, but now they have a better quarterback than Russell in Bruce Gradkowski, and Darren McFadd...
