Manning In Blue & Green?

Should the Seattle Seahawks sign Peyton Manning

As I am sure you are well aware of the Indianapolis Colts have decided to release superstar quarterback Peyton Manning.

Few weeks, even months Seahawks fans around the globe have been discussing the possibility of Peyton Manning becoming a Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback.

Let me start by saying Peyton is one of the best the game has ever seen at his position. He’s a first ballot hall of famer and the history books have already been written.

On the field he is a class act and a true leader.

He commands respect in the locker room and hold teammates accountable on and off the field.

Even if Manning is ready to go and play at the level he was at in the 2010 season he is better suited for a team that is a quarterback away from being championship contenders and has a window that will close in the next couple years.

A team that comes to mind for me is the San Francisco 49ers.

I haven’t heard them linked to Manning but if they can swing him and Reggie Wayne they could definitely become a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.

The Seahawks are a team that is getting close to seeing their window open, but the time is not now.

Peyton Manning Seattle Seahawks 630x425 One mans opinion! The Seahawks will not sign Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning to the Seattle Seahawks? Not happening!

Yes, Peyton would make them a much stronger team (upgrade from Tarvaris Jackson for sure) if he is fully healthy but he doesn’t give them the years necessary to take them through a 3-5 year period where they could be dominant.

Drafting a quarterback to sit behind Peyton doesn’t make sense because quarterbacks don’t learn from watching what he does. Manning is a unique quarterback who has an uncanny ability to read a defense and call the perfect play at the line.

No quarterback can develop under that and by watching an offense they will not be running.

This retards the growth of any future draft pick.

I could see Manning going to a number of teams but the Seattle Seahawks just don’t make sense to me. It would go against everything this administration has stood for since arriving in Seattle.

If you bring Manning in this year, how do you defend letting the only quarterback in franchise history to take you to the big game (Matt Hasselbeck) walk away the year before?

If the mantra of the team were “win for the moment” I could see it happening but it’s “win forever” and this move goes against that.

Manning to Seattle? Not happening.

The team doesn’t want a quarterback with a past, it wants a quarterback with a future and Manning just doesn’t have one anymore.

He’s going to commend a high salary based on past performance and not based on the number of neck surgeries he has had nor the weakness in his throwing arm.
