The Oakland Raiders will have either the third or fourth pick in the forthcoming NFL Draft in April pending the outcome of a coin flip between them and the Atlanta Falcons. Many in the Raider Nation are already adamant in their desire for Darren McFadden of Arkansas. I am not a draftnik, but special "Thoughts from the Dark Side" correspondent Raider X will be bringing many draft views into this space. McFadden is likely to be a very good running back in the NFL, but the Raiders problem has not been running the ball, but stopping the run. With the retirement of Warren Sapp, defensive tackle has become a position of dire need for the Raiders. Glen Dorsey or Chris Long are picks that would help stop the run.

  • Darren is a freak of nature a rb that every d-cordinator will be afraid when they face him and then sign albert haynesworth and maybe draft that full back out of west virginia then grab a lineman and trade fargas nice back but not a stud and has some value
  • I hate when people who don't know what they are talking about make comments. Haynesworth will be franchised so there is no way he ends up in Oakland. The Raiders have far more issues than RB. The combination of Fargas and Rhodes is serviceable while the defense needs fixing. With Dorsey being off the board, to Miami, Oakland's pick has to be Chris Long. Howie's boy will bring back that Raider attitude and help that woeful defense.
  • Fullback is FAR from a need with Justin Griffifth and Oren O'Neal.

    Fargas is a FREE AGENT.

Haynesworth will be signed by the Titans or franchised.
  • Dont be surprised if the Raiders trade their early pick to get two proven lineman, offensive or defensive. Wait, that might be a good idea and Davis wont go for that.
  • No one wants to trade up in this draft. Unless someone is moving up to get Matt Ryan in front of the Falcons I don't think there will be much movement.
  • WITH BILL PARCELLS GOING TO MIAMI HE STATED THAT HE WANTED TO,"BUILD AROUND JASON TAYLOR." HOW DO U DO THAT? MAKE GLENN DORSEY YOUR NUMBER ONE PICK... ANOTHER LSU FREAK OF NATURE.. CHRIS LONG MAY HIT THE RAMS ANYWAY IF THEY DONT GET AN OL... THE RAIDERS DONT NEED A DE IN THE >FIRST ROUNDNOTIS< THE RAIDERS PICK... JORDANS GOING, RHODES JUST HAD A TWO GAME AUDITION, HE WANTS OUT... THERES ALOT OF TALENT IN THE 2008 DRAFT, LOOK FOR KIFF TO GO FOR MULTIPLE PICKS, AND EXPAND HIS YOUNG OFFENSIVE MIND...
  • VERNON GHOLSTON OR CHRIS LONG ! ! ! EITHER OF THESE TWO WOULD BE MY HOPE... WE ALL KNOW WHAT CHRIS LONG COULD MEAN IN OAKLAND BUT GHOLSTON IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST WITH GREAT WORK ETHIC AND A MOTOR THAT NEVER STOPS ! ! ! I FEEL HE WOULD DOMINATE AT STRONG OLB ! ! ! WE HAVE OUR ENDS SECURE AND TWO OF THE BEST LB'S IN MORRISON AND HOWARD ! ! ! VERNON GHOLSTON WOULD MAKE THE RAIDERS LB CORPS COMPLETE AND STRIKE FEAR IN THE LEAGUE ! ! ! DEFENSE FIRST ! ! !
  • I got to go with a trade. It's hard to maintain a cap with Jam being drafted first last year, and another top-5 pick this year(let alone Darren who will be looking for the biggest contract.. I say trade with Dallas for two 1st rounders, or a 1 and a 2... Jerry Jones is from Arkansas, and would love a flashy weapon to help them lose in the playoffs next year..
  • oh, and NEVER draft a top FB. Atleast in the 6th round or earlier. Use the pick on somebody that will either help the team, or play a useful snap...80% of their game..
  • dont forget about sedrickthebeast ellis DT out of USC his stats and size match up too dorsey
  • i would go with some new line backers.... our offence is pretty good but we are just a young team now.... our defence is gettin old except out safeties like darnell bing and micheal huff... both great young players... our offecne looks pretty good now .... look at d. rhodes and jordan bith great running backs... its our defence is what has been suffering
