Kyle Orton says he had opportunities to compete for the starting quarterback job with a few NFL teams but chose the Cowboys because they were the best fit.
Orton, who has started 69 games during his seven-year career, said he's at a point where he prefers to play behind Tony Romo while getting "a chance to be in the playoffs."
"It just fit for what I was looking for," Orton said Tuesday while appearing on New School with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. "I had an idea of what I wanted to do kind of going into free agency and you don't get too many chances to hook up with an organization like the Cowboys. From everybody that I had talked to throughout the whole process they just had rave reviews of the organization.
"Talking to a guy like Jon Kitna, he just had great things to say about working with Tony, and I'm just excited for it."
