Osi Umenyiora is taking umbrage to the public comments made by former teammates Antonio Pierce and Michael Strahan this week. Both ex-Giants questioned the toughness of the team and the decision to sit DE Justin Tuck and RB Brandon Jacobs. Both players are out again this week, incidentally, which goes to discredit their claims.
Osi was mainly “disappointed” with the comments, but knows they were made more for media filler than anything else. A neck injury ended Pierce’s career and Strahan didn’t exactly set any consecutive game streaks in his career. He missed games, too.
Osi said yesterday that Pierce was still a good friend, but should know better than to say the things he said having played the game himself.
“For these guys to come out and attack a Justin, or guys like that, is just ridiculous.” Osi said. “They need to stop it and sit down somewhere.”
