Philly Sports Muse:
Just before the start of free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles announced a move not related to a free agent. The Eagles signed OT Todd Herremans, 29, to a 3-year extension, taking his contract with the Birds through 2016.
Most of us were expecting that signing Evan Mathis, now a free agent, would have been the first move on the o-line taken by Philadelphia, but the Birds wanted to express thanks for consistently strong performance from Herremans.
Head coach Andy Reid said,
“We are excited to be able to sign Todd to a new contract. Todd’s intelligence, toughness, durability, and leadership are second to none. Very few players in the NFL can play at an extremely high level at both the guard and tackle positions and Todd has done that for us. He has been a big part of the success of our offense over the last several years.”
Below is video of Herremans speaking with CSNPhilly’s Derrick Gunn about the signing. The Toddfather expressed appreciation for the security the move provides to him...

After their free agency spending spree got them nowhere last season, the Eagles have quietly gone about their business this year, trying to keep their own players in the fold, before turning their sights to improving from the outside.

Paul Kuharsky notes that the Winston Justice signing indicates what we can expect of this "new era" of Colts football:

Last year Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson began the season by holding out of training camp for 11 days. One can only assume his holdout ended so he would not ruin any of his future free agency rights. After the season he had in 2010, combined with motivation from seeing the contracts his peers like [...]
