AHH/Out Bounds Game of the Week
One of my last acts of
business before I left ALLHipHop.com was the AHH Game of the Week poll. Since I'm a man of my word, here's this week's Game of the Week:
Sunday, 11/23/08, 1pm games
New York Jets (7-3) at Tennessee Titans (10-0)
My Pick: Jets
In the "Battle of the Gray Beards", 36 year old Kerry Collins and the Tennessee Titans will host 39 year old Brett Favre and the New York Jets. I'm going with the Jets in this game. The Jets have the better QB and while the Titans can stop the run, I think the Jets RBs have more experienced for games such as this one.
Look for Favre to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage and attack the Titans through the air. There will be a lot of "school yard" plays on Farve's end to throw off the Titans defense, so look for this game to be real exciting. I don't know what Jeff Fisher has in store to stop Favre and the Jet's offense, but look for him to throw everything he can at Farve to stop the offensive flow.
While the Titans are undefeated, look for experience to the factor in this big game and that's when Brett Favre does his best work.
Sunday, 11/23/08, 1pm games
Houston Texans (3-7) at Cleveland Browns (4-6)
Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, OH
My Pick: Cleveland
While both of these reams haven't lived up to expectations for this season, this will still be an interesting game. I'm going with the Browns in this game. They have the better offense and their defense is experienced enough to put a hurting on the Texans lack luster offense.
San Francisco 49ers (3-7) at Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
My Pick: 49ers
Since I no longer write for ALLHipHop.com, I can pick whomever I want. Therefore, off course I'm going with the 49ers in this game. Therefore, what if the 49ers are my favorite squad, it's the Cowboys and they hate us as much as we hate them. In addition, the 49ers are due for a statement win, of sorts, and after their performance against the Rams last week. The 49ers are feeling the momentum.
Yes, the Cowboys have most of the key players back from injury, but my Niners are playing to make their interim head coach, the permanent head coach. I think the old ghost of Niner/Cowboys games will arise and lead the young 49ers to victory.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-3) at Detroit Lions (0-10)
My Pick: Bucs
It's the Lions. They stink. They stink so much; their game is blacked out today in their home state. Now that's bad.
Buffalo Bills (5-5) at Kansas City Chiefs (1-9)
Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
My Pick: Bills
Like the Lions, it's the Chiefs and they stink as well. Let's keep it moving.
Chicago Bears (5-5) at St. Louis Rams (2-8)
Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, MO
My Pick: Bears
Wow, the stink just continues. Like the Lions and the Chiefs, the Rams stink as well. No need to get deep in this game either, we move on.
New England Patriots (6-4) at Miami Dolphins (6-4)
My Pick: Dolphins
Will Bill Belichick and the Pats fall for the "wild-cat offense" again? No, but Belichick will have his hands full in trying to stop a Dolphin's offense that's been playing with a lot of momentum as of late. Oh, their defense isn't half-bad either.
I think the Dolphins are due for a season sweep this year. They're beginning to show signs of turning this team around to a winning franchise again and a season sweep against the defending AFC Champs is step in the right direction.
Minnesota Vikings (5-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (4-6)
Jacksonville Stadium, Jacksonville, FL
My Pick: Jacksonville
The Vikes have a solid rush defense, but today it will tested against a solid rushing attack of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jags run game has been keeping them in games and I think it will wear down the Vikes rush defense in this game.
Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens
M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
My Pick: Ravens
As long as the Eagles don't go into overtime in this game, they should be fine. Then again, the Ravens are still fuming from their performance from last week against the Giants.
With Brian Westbrook hurting and Donovan McNabb not knowing the rules of the NFL, look for the Ravens' defense to punch the Eagles' offense in the mouth and make up for their performance from last week in this game.
4pm games
Carolina Panthers (8-2) at Atlanta Falcons (6-4)
My Pick: Panthers
This is going to be an interesting game as well. The Falcons have been playing solid football this year despite all of the mess they've gone through this past offseason. I'm pulling for the Falcons to win one of the two Wild Card spots for this year's playoffs, but they won't win today.
The panthers have the stronger defense and their offense has its rhythm again. Go with the Panthers in this game.
Oakland Raiders (2-8) at Denver Broncos (6-4)
My Pick: Broncos
In this AFC West battle, the Broncos are the stronger team. The Raiders are still having issues and it looks as though it will be some time before they can get it together. The Broncos have the better offense and although their defense is hurting, they're healthy enough to beat up a terrible Raiders squad.
New York Giants (9-1) at Arizona Cardinals (7-3)
University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ
My Pick: Giants
Remember when Kurt Warner was the QB for the Giants. Wow, didn't he stink up the joint here in New York. Now he comes back to NYC for the second time this year to square off against one of his old teams. Problem with that, the G-Men have gotten much better since he's been gone. They even won a Super Bowl since he left. That probably stings a little for Warner.
While the Cards have been moving the ball well on offense, the G-Men's defense in much stronger. In addition, I don't see anyone on the Cards' defense that can hang with the Giants' explosive offense.
Don't look for Warner to get revenge against his old team; this is the G-Men's game to lose.
Washington Redskins (6-4) at Seattle Seahawks (2-8)
My Pick: Redskins
In a rematch from one of last year's wild Card match-ups, the Redskins return to the scene of the crime to take on the Seahawks. The last time they met, the Seahawks were healthy and they gave it to the Redskins. Not today, that won't happen.
The Seahawks are hurting and the Redskins have been playing good football despite a few losses. The Skins offense is clicking and if Clinton Portis plays today, then they have this game.
With the healthier squad, I'm rolling with the Skins.
Sunday Night Football, 8pm
Indianapolis Colts (6-4) at San Diego Chargers (4-6)
Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA
My Pick: Colts
The Chargers offense has been lack luster this year and since Shawne Merriman went down for the season, the defense looks like it forgot how to play. With the Colts in desperation mode to take a Wild Card spot, look for the Colts to avenge their playoff loss from last season in this game with their offense putting big numbers on the board through the air.
Monday Night Football, 11/24/08, 8:30pm
Green Bay Packers (5-5) at New Orleans Saints (5-5)
My Pick: Packers
The Packers and the Saints have been disappointing of sorts this season, so this game may be the game both teams may need to finish their season on a high note. The Packers have the better offense in this game. The Saints' offense is hurting and I'm not confident with their defense right now. Look for Aaron Rodgers to go to the air in this game this game and give it to the Saints and their lack luster defense.
