Found May 10, 2014 on Packer Fans United:
While the actual NFL football season is still several months away, the NFL Draft marks the unofficial start of the season for many fans. It sure gets the juices of Packers fans going. To the surprise of some, GM Ted Thompson -- Trader Ted -- didn't make a move through the first three rounds, choosing instead to stay pat with the team's assigned picks. So, what do we make of the Pack's picks through the first two days? From this vantage point, we're pleased. Let's take a look at the selections, shall we... Green Bay Packers: Grading all 9 draft picks

The 2014 NFL draft has come to a close and the Green Bay Packers did something they have never done in the Ted Thompson era.  Thompson did not trade any of the Packers’ nine draft picks.  The Packers filled their biggest need in round one, and helped made some nice offensive additions in the later rounds.  Here are my pick by pick grades for the Packers 2014 draft class. Round...

BREAKING: Green Bay Packers select Jared Abbrederis ,WR, Wisconsin 176

Analysis: A great value at the end of the 5th round, Ted Thompson drafts his first Badger with the selection of wide receiver Jared Abbredaris. The 6’1”, 195 pound Abbredraris was considered to be one of the best route runners in the draft. He won’t blow anyone away with his speed, and he has below average strength, putting up the lowest bench press total at the combine, but...

The Packers Cha-Cha for Ha-Ha

Ted Thompson and the Packers brass have to be happy with the way the first round of the 2014 NFL draft unfolded for them. They went into the draft needing to find a safety. It just so happens that they were able to get the safety that many regarded to be the best safety in the class. The Packers were the only team in 2013 that did not get a single interception from their safeties...

Packers 2014 NFL Draft: Day 1 Grade and Analysis

New Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix holds up a jersey after being selected in the 2014 NFL draft. With linebackers C.J. Mosley and Ryan Shazier off the board, the Packers used the 21st pick in Thursday’s NFL draft to take free safety Ha’Sean “Ha Ha” Clinton-Dix and hopefully provide a long overdue boost to the safety position. Ever since Nick Collins’ career ended in early...

Packers Fill More Needs

If general manager Ted Thompson truly picks the best available players on his board, then the first two nights of the draft were very fortuitous. That’s because the Packers were able to address three of their four biggest needs in a 28-hour time period. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix fills an enormous hole at safety, Davante Adams […]

More Defense For Dom

If Green Bay’s defense stinks again next season, either general manager Ted Thompson can’t draft or Dom Capers can’t coordinate. Why? Because the team has now used 8 of its last 12 first and second round picks on defensive players. That number includes safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who was selected 21st overall on Thursday. I […]

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Could Be Another Pro Bowl Pick By Ted Thompson

With his selection of the player who has arguably the greatest name in all of football, Alabama safety Ha Ha (real name Ha’Sean) Clinton-Dix, general manager Ted Thompson seems to have come through on Draft Day once again for the Green Bay Packers. It’s no secret that Thompson views the draft as the single most important medium of player acquisition, and it’s hard to argue...

Packers Select Ha Ha Clinton-Dix 21st Overall

The Packers looked to be fielding calls for trades until the last minutes ticked off the clock for the 21st overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. In the end, Ted Thompson didn't hear or get what he wanted for the selection, and decided to fix some of the secondary issues that have plagued Green Bay for years now. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix out of Alabama is the proposed...

Time To Add Pass-Catchers

GM Ted Thompson can draft all the best players available he wants tonight, but at least one of them had better be somebody who can catch the football. It was only 16 months ago that wide receivers Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Donald Driver and James Jones and tight end Jermichael Finley were all […]

Fans react on Twitter to the Packers 2nd round selection

The Packers have now added two players in the first two days of the draft, this time adding wide receiver Davante Adams out of Fresno State. Packer Nation, as can be expected in our new digital age, was quick to react on Twitter, letting the organization know how they feel about the newest member of the green and gold. Not disappointed with that pick, good get for the #Packers ...

Twitter reacts to the Packers TE pick up

There is a new Mr. Rodgers in Mr. Rodgers’ neighborhood, and fittingly he hails from Cal Berkeley. The Tight End will join the offense and maybe insight a change to #12′s jersey, at least that’s what some are suggesting on Twitter following the Packers’ 2nd third round selection, number 98 overall. So will @AaronRodgers12 have to change name on jersey to "A RODGERS"...

Packers add 1st Badger in Ted Thompson Era

From hometown hero to the University of Wisconsin as a walk-on and becoming an instant star is usually as good as it gets for a Wisconsinite. However, on Saturday afternoon former Badger wide receiver Jared Abbrederis added one more check mark to the Wisconsinite dream — Green Bay Packer. Jared Abbrederis is a Packer! Congrats to @abbrecadabra on heading to @packers in #NFLDraft...

BREAKING: Green Bay Packers select Khyri Thornton, DE, Southern Miss at 85

Analysis: Khyri Thornton was a bit of a surprise pick this early in the draft, as most draft experts had him closer to a 5th round selection. At 6’3” 304, Thornton seems best suited for playing the 5 technique in the Packers 3-4 defensive Scheme. He may not make an instant impact this season, but he has some upside and could play a role in the Packers defensive line rotation...

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix picked to help fix back of Packers’ defense

The Green Bay Packers were one player away from disaster Thursday night in the first round of the National Football League draft. Prospect after prospect the Packers held in high regard and held out hopes might be available at their No. 21 position had to be removed from their draft board. Finally, it came down to the slot just ahead of Green Bay. What would have been the reaction...
