On the eve of their Week 5 game at Indianapolis, the Green Bay Packers on Saturday made a pair of personnel moves, activating defensive end Mike Neal andreleasing fellow defensive lineman Phillip Merling. Neal was activated from exempt status following a four-game suspension for violatingthe NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. The 6-foot-3, 294-pounder, who was a second-round draft pick out of Purdue in 2010, insisted he did nothing to warrant his recent suspension, claiming on multiple occasionsthat he had simply taken physician-prescribed Adderall for attention-deficit disorder. However, the NFL said it had not been made aware of Neal's condition when he first began taking his medication, prompting the league-imposed suspension. Neal appealed the suspension to no avail. Neal, who has been limited tonine games by injuries since he was drafted, said earlier this week that returning to NFL action is akin to "being freed from jail."It's like, 'OK, now it's time for me to live my life and do what I do,' he said. "I'm going to do that." As a result of Neal's return to the active roster, Green Bay parted ways with Merling. A second-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2008, Merling has failed to produce much in the professional ranks. The 6-5, 315-pound former Clemson Tiger has just 3.5sacks in five NFL seasons. After signing with Green Bay as a free agent late last spring, Merling played in three games this year, registering two total tackles.

Juan Eye On James Jones And Randall Cobb

I’m more Harvin than Sproles Juan… The Packers will be without Greg Jennings for at least a week, if not longer.  It’s time for their young WRs to step up.  James Jones will replace him in the lineup, but who will have more fantasy value. James Jones is a guy who I joke is the fantasy player that gets you 3 in your lineup or 20 on your bench.  I am not too far off.  Week...

Opponents ganging up on Matthews -- again

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Clay Matthews may have been a little too good to begin this season. With six sacks in the Packers' first two games, Matthews matched his 2011 season total and showed opposing teams that his statistical drop-off in production was nothing more than a one-year glitch. After the fourth-year linebacker dominated the 49ers and Bears in Weeks 1 and 2 and was on pace...

This week, in support of their head coach who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia the Colts launched the ‘chuckstrong’ campaign aimed at generating funds for the Cancer Society and showing support for their coach; and, the Packers are supporting the initiative. Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Brutally Honest Preview

The Green Bay Packers have had one of the tougher schedules to start the year. They started with the stout 49ers, a division rival in the Bears, a Seattle game marred by the replacement refs and a Saints team desperate for a win. To come out of that with a 2-2 record could be looked at as a success or an utter disappointment. And just when you thought the road gets a little easier...

Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Hero and Zero of the Game

I can think of few things more appropriate than a team, whose head coach announced earlier in the week he would be out, likely for the season, as he battles a treatable form of Leukemia, being beaten down in the first half only to come roaring back as if they were battling for their lives, to upset the Green Bay Packers 30-27.While it may be breast cancer awareness month, it might...
