Kent Benkert, Greg Jennings squabble over criticism of Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is reportedly seeking to become the NFL’s highest-paid player, and that’s something that doesn’t sit well with his ex-teammate, Greg Jennings.

During Friday’s edition of “First Thing’s First” on FOX Sports 1, Jennings took direct aim at Rodgers. He said the four-time NFL MVP is a “very selfish” person and added that his current contract push is nothing short of hypocritical.

“You understand what this means and what this does to your personnel,” Jennings said. “You potentially have to get rid of some guys. … Now, all of a sudden it’s about the money. I hate to do this, but I go back to personal experiences. When you have a personal experience you try to move past and beyond because people change, but some things never do. Aaron Rodgers has been a very selfish guy, period.”

But Rodgers’ current teammate, backup quarterback Kurt Benkert, was having none of that. Although he’s played only a single season alongside Rodgers to date, Benkert was quick to defend No. 12’s character and throw some shade at Jennings.

And Jennings was just as quick to return fire.

Benkert has heard that jab before, and he noted as much during his final exchange with Jennings.

The Twitter beef is real, ladies and gentlemen.

Fair or unfair, Rodgers has become a bit of a lightning rod and he’s regularly targeted from every direction. However, he is openly loyal to many of his current and former teammates, and they to him. Obviously, that doesn’t extend to Jennings.
