Is it time for Brett Favre to get over the past and reunite with the Green Bay Packers organization? (Credit: AP Photo) After the Green Bay Packers traded their future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre to the New York Jets in August 2008, the relationship between the two has been a bit sour. The relationship was only made worse when Favre joined the Minnesota Vikings, a NFC North division rival, in 2009. As Favre retired after the 2010 season, it looked like Favre would never forgive the Packers for trading him. Nearly three years later, Favre and the Packers may be ready for a reunion. Speaking at a team event on Tuesday, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy told reporters the team wants Favre back. “We want to have (Favre) back in the family,” Murphy told FOXSportsWisconsin.com. Murphy believes the February NFL Honors appearance of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers on the same stage together was the first step in bringing Favre back to the Packers family. “I thought he and Aaron jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award was a great first step,” Murphy said. “We’re hopeful to have (Favre) back in the fold and get him back involved in the organization soon.” “Brett is two years removed from the game. He’s going to obviously be in the Packers Hall of Fame,” Rodgers told ESPN Radio three days after “NFL Honors.” “He’ll get his number retired, and he’ll be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the next few years. “It’s important, I think, to make sure that he’s recognized for all the accomplishments that he’s achieved in our organization especially. He’s still very dear to many of our fans for the things that he’s done for the Packers on the field. You can never take that away.” When Favre is elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame it will be as a member of the Green Bay Packers. It is time for Favre to get over whatever hard feelings he still has for the Green Bay Packers and return to the organization.
