McCarthy & Rodgers talk it overI can’t really fault those who want to blame Dom Capers and the Packers defense for this loss. They did allow rookie QB Andrew Luck to repeatedly find veteran WR Reggie Wayne, for back-breaking receptions despite a secondary flooded with defensive backs. But the real blame for the Packers’ loss to the Colts lies at the feet of Mike McCarthy and/or Aaron Rodgers. Our own Adam Czech specifically points the finger at the Packers last drive of the first half, but let me take it a little bit further. After the Packers went up 21-3 in the second quarter, suddenly the offense changed. To see how, let’s look at their next three posessions:2nd Quarter: Green Bay Packers at 1:171-10-GB 43 (1:17) (Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Kuhn pushed ob at GB 49 for 6 yards (J.Freeman).2-4-GB 49 (1:12) (Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass incomplete short right to J.Nelson.3-4-GB 49 (1:07) (Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass incomplete short right to J.Finley (S.Brown).4-4-GB 49 (1:04...

Packers Blew Chance to Put Colts Away at End of 1st Half

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers should have put Sunday’s game against the Colts away at the end of the first half. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers gets annoyed when people ask him about not having many fourth quarter comeback wins on his resume. Rodgers usually points out that he’s won a lot of games in the second and third quarter, making any type of late comeback unnecessary...

Green Bay Packers poor second half cost them game against Indianapolis Colts

The Green Bay Packers were outplayed badly in the second half against the Indianapolis Colts and it cost them the game.Green Bay looked great in the first half as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead over the Colts.  The Packers took a 21-3 lead into halftime and it looked like they would cruise to an easy victory. But then the second half was played. It became immediately clear that the...

Meet The Spaniard Version Of Aaron Rodgers

It has come to our attention that there exists an indie pop band from Barcelona named Manel. This outfit would be of little consequence to us, save for the fact that it is fronted by a beardy little hipster named Guillem Gisbert, who bears a striking resemblance to Aaron Rodgers. Now, it is possible this is a crafty alias concocted by Rodgers to indulge his chill bro side without...

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Admits He's Not Playing His Best Football

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was brutally honest about the issues slowing down the Green Bay offense. The reigning MVP took responsibility for his own play on his radio show with Jason Wilde on WAUK-AM in Milwaukee. "I haven't played as well as the expectations are, obviously," Rodgers said. "The ones I put on myself, I like to think are as high or higher...

Packers at 2-3: Looking ahead at the rest of the season

Rodgers and the offense have time to right their wrongs.Looking at the schedule before the season, I thought the Packers would be 5-0 at this point. Instead, the team sits at 2-3 with a tough matchup next week against the undefeated Houston Texans.Through five games, the offense has yet to score 30 points in a single game, while the defense has been up-and-mostly down. Sure, there...

Packers victims of their own press?

Last season, the Green Bay Packers followed up their improbable Super Bowl run to close out 2010 with a 15-1 regular season record.  As a team, the Packers seemed on top of the world; they were unstoppable. But with one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history, the Packers opportunistic defense has been less than desirable; an Achilles heel so to speak that cost the Packers...

NFL Week Five Recap: Rotten Cheese-What Happened To Green Bay?

They have Aaron Rodgers, a former MVP and Super Bowl MVP at quarterback.  They have Jermichael Finley, the “uncoverable” tight end.  They have Clay Mathews, a three time Pro Bowler.  They have BJ Raji, a 340 lb. man who can run fast.  They have Greg Jennings, who the team on his back.   So why do the Packers suck?  What the hell happened? Hit the title/read...

NFC Best? The NFC West Makes a Strong Super Bowl Case

“Offense wins games; defense wins championships.”Whether or not that’s how the phrase originally went is moot. Unless you’re the 1999 St. Louis Rams, simply outscoring the opponent with nothing but copious offensive firepower just doesn’t cut it. Many a quarterback with a 40 TD/8 INT season has been sniped in the playoff thicket by sharpshooter corners and artillery linemen...

Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Hero and Zero of the Game

I can think of few things more appropriate than a team, whose head coach announced earlier in the week he would be out, likely for the season, as he battles a treatable form of Leukemia, being beaten down in the first half only to come roaring back as if they were battling for their lives, to upset the Green Bay Packers 30-27.While it may be breast cancer awareness month, it might...

Little Mistakes Add Up to Big Loss for Packers

There’s nothing worse than missing a game where the Green Bay Packers lose. Yes, it saves some heartache and keeps the remote control from flying across the room, but it’s disheartening to know that, when I go back and watch it, I’m only going to be disappointed. The one silver lining, however, is that the emotion has taken its course, and I can look at things a little more...

Could This Loss to the Colts be a Turning Point for the Packers?

The Packers must find the quickest route to get back on their winning ways In most any situation in life, be it a movie, fight, game, etc.,  there is a turning point.  At five games into this season and with two tough road games coming up, the Green Bay Packers face just that.  Some may say it’s too early to see it that way, but this sport is about momentum and the Pack need...
