The Green Bay Packers have released reserve safety and special teams contributor Derrick Martin, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. He had one year remaining on his contract. Martin is expected to draw interest as a free agent once the collective bargaining agreement is resolved. Traded to the Green Bay Packers two years ago in exchange for offensive lineman Tony Moll, Martin emerged as a special-teams ace with the Packers. He was placed on injured reserve in October when he suffered a knee injury against the Washington Redskins.
