Tuesday is the day to make final roster cuts. It appears that the Green Bay Packers have cut Tyler Goodson, an undrafted free-agent running back who signed with the team before training camp began.

Goodson played for the University of Iowa as the starting running back from 2019-2021, playing in all 13 games during his final season and rushing for 1,151 yards on 256 carries. Goodson averaged 4.5 yards per carry. He also made 70 catches for 565 yards and scored one touchdown.

During the 2022 preseason with the Green Bay Packers, he had 28 carries for 107 yards. The RB also caught eight passes for 60 yards. Truth be told, Goodson did not have many flashing plays with his first NFL team, but he did have one highlight play in the final preseason game against the Chiefs that caught lots of attention.

Goodson’s Big Highlight Play with The Packers

Goodson was given some praise during the preseason as possibly being the No. 3 running back on the depth chart behind Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon, despite the only aspect that needed work was on the special teams unit. He may have certainly grown into that role and gotten better, but Patrick Taylor is said to be the better player on special teams over Goodson.

The Packers are believed to want Goodson back on the practice squad if he’s not signed through waivers by another team. For now, Patrick Taylor is still on the 53-man roster, but if Taylor is cut, there is a chance that the undrafted free agent out of Iowa could be brought back or claimed.

Goodson is a versatile player in having the ability to catch passes out of the backfield as well. As time passes, and roster cuts are still being made, fans of the NFL will be able to see if Goodson comes back to the Packers or goes elsewhere.
