Evan Dietrich-Smith Packers Drive Rewind is a new weekly post I hope to do for the rest of the season. That’s the goal, anyway. With the holidays coming up, I might not have time, or I just might forget. You never know. Anyway, I want to take one key drive from each game and break it down with some film and my own thoughts. I’m not doing this to lecture everyone or prove how much I know about X’s and O’s. I just want to talk football. I did something similar last week. If you think my observations are off the mark, or you have additional insight to add, please do so in the comments section. We have a lot of very knowledgeable readers on this site and I always enjoy their perspective on some of the more nuanced aspects of the game. (Note: It’s hard to see numbers on some of the Lions players. My apologies if I mix up a few players.) Here we go: The Situation Fourth quarter. Packers 17, Lions 17. Packers ball on their own 41 with 14:49 to play. The Result The Packers run the ball seve...

Green Bay Packers Injury News: Clay Matthews, Charles Woodson, Jordy Nelson And T.J. Lang Updates

When the Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears in a key NFC North divisional battle on Sunday, they will apparently still have to do so far less than 100 percent. Not that any team is at full health during Week 15 of the NFL season, but injuries have decimated Green Bay this season. They will still be without a few integral parts this week, but the good news is that they may...

Thinking Forward: Forget Sandy Olsen, Harris, You’re DuJaun That I Want

So as the season winds down I slowly lose my mind.  Nowhere is this more evident than in me referencing a Grease song.  I haven’t even seen the dang thing and, no, I don’t have to.  There are only two musicals I’ll subject myself to.  One is Rocky Horror Picture Show and the other is Little Shop of Horrors.  Steve Martin as a rebellious, jet black-haired, sadistic dentist...

Clay Matthews returns to practice for Packers

Linebacker Clay Matthews was able to return to practice for the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday. Matthews has been out since Week 9 while dealing with a hamstring injury. Matthews is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. On Monday Packers head coach Mike McCarthy expressed hope that Matthews would be able to play against the Bears. The addition of Matthews...

Packers fan enjoys rare leap into history

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- No fan had ever been allowed to Lambeau Leap during a Packers game ... until Sunday night. Finley on Urlacher: 'I meant no disrespect'

GREEN BAY, Wis. The war of words between the Packers and Bears leading into their Sunday matchup continues to escalate. One day after Green Bay tight end Jermichael Finley said that Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher is "playing a little slow" and that the Bears aren't "losing too much" if the 13-year veteran is not on the field, Urlacher's teammates...

Packers won't have Woodson back for Bears game

Jay Cutler can't catch a break this season. Clay Matthews was back at practice Wednesday for the first time since pulling his hamstring last month, and he's eager to terrorize the Bears quarterback again Sunday when the Green Bay Packers (9-4) travel to Chicago. The Packers can clinch the NFC North title with a victory over their biggest rivals. ''When you have...

Brandon Marshall: “This is personal”

Brandon Marshall says the comments made by members of the Green Bay Packers’ secondary following Chicago’s Week 2 loss have made Sunday’s contest the biggest game of his career.

Lance Briggs called Jermichael Finley an idiot

Idiot Noun A stupid person. A mentally handicapped person. This has become a term this week being used by NFL players. The most recent occurence happened in the lead up to this weekends clash between division rivals, the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. Jermichael Finley made some odd comment about how the Bears [...]
