Packers fans make statement, but Favre has final say

GREEN BAY, Wis. — For the better part of 16 years here, he was a hero, an icon, a legend. His record-setting performances and last-minute comebacks stirred the souls of men. His dimples and smile beneath that 5 o'clock shadow melted the hearts of women. Children worshipped at his feet and spoke his name with almost a whispered reverence.   Sunday night, however, was a different story. Sunday night, the good folks of Green Bay couldn't wait for Brett Favre to get the hell out of town.   It's a wonder they didn't form a Cheesehead convoy from Lambeau Field to Austin Straubel Airport to make sure he really did board that charter back to Minneapolis.
