NFL Injury Report:
Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson
had to be
carted off the field during Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts
. It was
reported yesterday by ESPN’s Adam Shefter
that the veteran had sustained a Lisfranc
foot injury that is expected to sideline him eight weeks, or possibly the
remainder of his season if doctors determine he requires surgery.
Benson will continue to undergo testing and evaluation as
doctors try and establish the severity of the injury.
In his first year with the Packers Benson had led the team
with 248 yards over his first five games. Green Bay has several options at running back
to fill in for the 29-year-old; Alex Green
, who replaced Benson this Sunday
against the Colts, Brandon Saine
and James Starks
