The Packers have singed free agent LB K.C. Asiodu. Asiodu is in his second year out of the University of Central Oklahoma. He spent his first season with the St. Louis Rams in 2009, appearing in 10 games and 1 game with the New Orleans Saints in his second year. He will wear number 54 (info from Packers press release).
This signing has the trademark look of a Ted Thompson training camp signing, on paper Asiodu doesn’t have the stats you would look for when adding depth to an impressive linebacker corps, but one stat that stands out is his team ranking of 3rd in special teams tackles while with the Rams. In true TT form, he is brining in a player to make special teams strong, with the hopes that they can emerge as a position player. But at the very least, increase the level of competition for the guys scratching to make the team.
