Packers linebacker Clay Matthews will miss Sunday's game against the New York Giants because of his hamstring injury, the team confirmed Friday.
Matthews, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, missed last week's win over the Detroit Lions and didn't practice Friday. Packers coach Mike McCarthy listed Matthews as doubtful earlier this week.
The Packers would love to have Matthews available against the Giants, but they'll have to wait at least another week before he returns to the gridiron. Matthews has dealt with off-and-on hamstring problems for years, but the Packers are eager to get him back on the field. Source: NFL.com Attached Thumbnails

Sherrod progressing slower than expected
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It's been 49 weeks since Packers offensive tackle Derek Sherrod broke his right leg last season in Kansas City. But, after a lack of substantial positive progress recently, the 2011 first-round pick is likely just five days away from being placed on injured reserve. By Wednesday, coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson will have used up the team...

The Packers are on a five game winning streak but are wounded. The Giants are not playing their best ball right now. I think the game is close for an entire 60 minutes and call me crazy, but I think Mason Crosby ...
Packers' Jennings making progress from groin injury
Pro Bowl wide receiver Greg Jennings practiced for the second consecutive day with the Green Bay Packers, albeit on a limited basis. His involvement, however, increased from jumping in for a few drills at the start of practice Wednesday to doing at least a little in everything Thursday. “(I) got a little scout-team work in there as well to get my wind up underneath me,” Jennings...
Packers Hayward will continue to fill in for Shields who has set back
Packers RCB Sam Shields (ankle) has suffered a setback, and will be sidelined a “couple of weeks.” Shields was originally knocked out with a shin injury, but is apparently dealing with an ankle ailment. He hasn’t played since Week 6. Rookie Casey Hayward has acquitted himself well in Shields’ absence.
Hayward has 5 interceptions on the season, to include a forced fumble. ...
Packers' defense stepping up to the challenge
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers again have a defense that they believe can win games for them."You know, last year, there weren't many games where you'd say that," Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers said. "Of course, our offense was playing so well, it was such a different scenario."This year, the Aaron Rodgers-led offense isn't...
Foot Surgery Remains Possibility For Packers RB Cedric Benson
Running back Cedric Benson of the Green Bay Packers said Wednesday it's still possible that he will need foot surgery, which would end his first season with the team. Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.
Benson has an appointment scheduled later in the month with Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist in Charlotte, N.C.
"It's still a lingering...
As usual, Packers-Giants counts for a lot
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The last time the Packers and New York Giants met, all the positive moments from Green Bay's nearly perfect 15-1 regular season became relatively meaningless.
The 37-20 playoff beatdown Eli Manning helped deliver on a cold mid-January afternoon at Lambeau Field continued another improbable postseason run for New York that concluded with Peyton's little...
Matthews Out; Jennings Questionable
Clay Matthews will miss a second consecutive game because of an injured hamstring while Greg Jennings, three weeks off surgery, practiced again and has a chance to play on Sunday night against the Giants.
Aaron Rodgers Said Sam Elliott Has The Greatest Mustache Ever, Is Totally Right
As a grown adult male who has never been able to grow sufficient facial hair, I don’t typically handle news involving mustaches and beards very well, but if that news creates the opportunity to rank celebrity mustaches and/or beards then I can live with it. In this case, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers appeared on Jim Rome’s new show on Showtime Wednesday night and Romey asked...
Rarest of Feats Could Pay Playoff Dividends
What did the Packers accomplish against Detroit on Sunday that they've done only rarely under coach Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers? "There’s definitely something we can draw from," McCarthy said, looking ahead to a stretch run that could culminate with a berth in the rugged NFC playoffs.
