Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk was fined $10,000 by the NFL for displaying a bird of a different feather in last week's game.
Hawk was fined for flashing a one-finger obscenity toward his bench that was caught by TV cameras in Green Bay's win over St. Louis, according to reports.
Hawk told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that the gesture was a running joke with teammates and was not directed in anger at anyone. He apologized for his action.
"I definitely want to apologize to anyone whose kids were watching and got offended or anything," he told the newspaper. "I understand. I'm sorry that got out there."
Hawk has 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season for the defending Super Bowl champions.
