Ian Rapoport reports that Packers TE Jermichael Finley has a $3 million roster bonus due on Wednesday.
Rapoport mentions that he expects to see the Packers keep Finley, but believes Green Bay could still approach him regarding a pay cut.
Finley, 25, has an $8.25 million salary coming his way this season, which is also the final year of his current contract. Green Bay has some cap space to work with, so they should be able to address the contracts of Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews at some point this offseason. Certainly, it would help to free up some extra cash by reducing Finley’s 2013 salary, but it’s by no means a major issue.
The fact that they lost Greg Jennings to the Vikings makes it likely that Finley will be back with the team, seeing as there’s no obvious candidate to replace him on their roster.
