It wasn't pretty, that's for sure. But the Green Bay Packers had just enough to beat the Ravens in Baltimore today. It was the first win for the Pack in Baltimore since MacArthur Lane was the running back and, coincidentally, the first time they had a 100-yard rusher in a game versus a Baltimore team since Jim Taylor against the Colts in 1963.Those historical markers aside, the game was memorable on a few other counts...as well as forgettable on still others. The nod to the memorable part of the game has to go to the defense which, for most of the game, held the Ravens in check with smash-mouth play. LB A.J. Hawk was a man possessed, seemingly everywhere on the field, responsible for three sacks on Ravens QB Joe Flacco. The defensive front on two separate occasions stopped Baltimore deep in the red zone, once with 1st and goal from about the 2-yard line. On the offensive side of things, Aaron Rodgers threw for more than 300 yards and Eddie Lacy rushed for his first 100-yard g...

Packers defeat Ravens; WRs Cobb and Jones injured

BALTIMORE– In a battle of former Super Bowl MVPs, defense was the deciding factor as the Green Bay Packers defeated the Baltimore Ravens. As notoriously known for their defense, the Ravens pressured Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers all game, and while he was under pressure throughout, he was able to step up and make plays. Rodgers […]

Packers get gritty win over Ravens 19-17

Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers hit big plays at the right time, and Green Bay's injury plagued defense manhandled the defending Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens in a 19-17 win.

Green Bay blocked a punt, then stupidly gave the ball back to Baltimore

The Packers blocked a punt during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Ravens, but then they gave the ball away thanks to a bonehead play by Green Bay fullback John Kuhn. Kuhn tried to scoop up the football and run with it but couldn’t bring it in. Instead, the Ravens managed to recover the ball for a first down. And that, my friends, is why they tell you to just fall...

Packers are 3-point favorites against Ravens...

I'm not too surprised that the Pack is favored by Vegas as a visitor going into M&T Bank Stadium, considering that many bettors will take Baltimore and the points. That should mean a lot of extra action in terms of gambling volume on this game...which of course means lots of extra commission income for the sports casinos. The fact is, since John Harbaugh took over the...

Packers WR James Jones hurt and will not return

The Green Bay Packers entered Week 6 against the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon without the heart and sole of their defense Clay Matthews but shortly into the game they also suffered a loss in the receiving corp after James Jones went down with a left leg injury. There was no immediate update available and Jones was listed as questionable but...

Perry was starting for Clay Matthews, who recently had thumb surgery and is expected to miss four weeks. The news comes courtesy of cheeseheadtv.com: Perry got hurt sacking and forcing a fumble...

Ravens plan is for Eugene Monroe to start at left tackle

Bryant McKinnie reportedly OK with demotion. With recently acquired left tackle Eugene Monroe getting a full week of practice under his belt all signs point to the former Jacksonville first-round pick earning a start Sunday against Green Bay. "I would anticipate that he'll play quite a bit — possibly start" coach John Harbaugh told reporters Friday. "You might...

Green Bay Packers prove grit against Baltimore Ravens, 19-17

Five weeks into the 2013 NFL regular season, there is one thing we can say for sure: These aren’t your 2011 Green Bay Packers. Then again, they’re not your 2012 Packers, either. Despite not making any flashy moves in the offseason or significantly upgrading the roster in any way, this 2013 Green Bay team seems […]The post Green Bay Packers prove grit against Baltimore Ravens...

Green Bay Packers News – Randall Cobb To Miss Six Weeks Possibly, Other Notes

The Green Bay Packers are going to be without star receiver Randall Cobb for as many as six weeks according to head coach Mike McCarthy. The injury, suffered in Sunday’s 19-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, would be a huge loss for an already battered Packers receiving group who is also depleted at the linebacker position. Making matters worse is that several people believe...

Packers show improvement at expense of Ravens

The Green Bay Packers are beginning to make progress in their effort to become a team capable of playing in the Super Bowl. Baltimore, on the other hand, appears stuck in neutral. Green Bay's 19-17 victory over the Ravens on Sunday, combined with its dominating effort against Detroit one week earlier, left Packers coach Mike McCarthy beaming. ''We definitely played...

Joe Flacco Tops 300 Yards vs. Green Bay

Baltimore QB Joe Flacco (20-for-34, 342 yds, 2 TD Sunday against the Packers) has now thrown for at least 300 yards in two of his last three games.Fantasy Spin:Unfortunately for Flacco, both of those 300-yard efforts have come in Ravens losses. Flacco isn't usually prone to throwing interceptions but this season, he's actually tossed more picks (eight) than touchdowns (seven).

Just Like '10, They Haven't Got Time for Pain

It's far too early to be talking about the Super Bowl but, just like a few years ago, the Packers are fighting through an alarming number of injuries in winning fashion. "It's an eerie feeling," Ryan Pickett said from a victorious locker room.
