Like Darren Sharper and Nick Collins, there are defensive backs coming out of college that just seem to get it and can contribute right away.  This year it’s rookie cornerback Casey Hayward, who actually is tied for the lead in interceptions with 4. Hayward has been a very good slot cornerback behind Tramon Williams, Sam Shields and Charles Woodson, but with Sam Shields out after being kicked in the shin against the Texans, Hayward was shifted out to the outside.  How would he respond in his first start and being left on a island?  Pretty good.  While fans will gush at his acrobatic interception, I would probably suggest that everyone take a step back; Hayward is solid cornerback, just not a playmaker…yet The Situation: The score is 17-6 in favor of the Packers with 1:25 left in the 3rd quarter.  Needless to say things haven’t gone so well for the Rams in the 2nd half.  For the first 30 minutes of football, the Rams had managed to keep the game close by using a steady diet of ground...

Newhouse settling in nicely at left tackle

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Marshall Newhouse has come a long way in the past year. The Packers' third-year left tackle has been performing well as Aaron Rodgers' blind-side protector, showing steady improvement since he first took over the job in Week 5 last season. There have been a few negative moments for Newhouse, such as allowing five sacks in Green Bay's first seven games...

In order for Nelson to be cleared before Green Bay'...

Janoris Jenkins' Off-Field Issues Made Him Steal of 2012 NFL Draft When Rams Took Him in Second Round

Judged merely on his on-field play, Janoris Jenkins could have been the first cornerback taken in the 2012 NFL draft. Unfortunately, the Rams' rookie's college career didn't go as smoothly as he may have hoped. That's why St. Louis was able to bite when they saw the talented player still waiting for them with the 39th overall pick in the second round...

Packers OT Derek Sherrod Unlikely To Play This Year

The Green Bay Packers will likely be without 2011 first-round draft pick Derek Sherrod for the entire season. The offensive tackle out of Mississippi State broke his tibia and fibula Dec. 18, 2011, against the Kansas City Chiefs and had surgery that night. "He's not ready," coach Mike McCarthy told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That's really all I can...

New surroundings for Rams tackle Barksdale

Joe Barksdale is finding himself in a lot of new situations these days. The second-year tackle is with a new team, learning a new offense - and doing it in a different country. Barksdale was picked up off waivers by the rebuilding St. Louis Rams last month after being dropped by Oakland, and was given his first career NFL start last weekend in a loss to the Green Bay Packers. ...

Change of scenery could benefit the Rams

ST. LOUIS - A change of scenery can be a kick to the conscience. Settings can become stale, the shine from a 3-2 start can dull, the Edward Jones Dome can become Lambeau Field South and a bucket of water tossed in the face after a dream September can be more frigid than the St. Louis Rams red-zone offense. Given all that, its not a bad thing Jeff Fisher & Co. will try to shake...

Predictions: St. Louis Rams and New England Patriots clash in London

The St. Louis Rams and New England Patriots are set to square off in London, England on Sunday afternoon.  With the Rams 3-4 on the season in their first year under head coach Jeff Fishers, Sunday's game across the pond provides this young team with a nice opportunity to upset a NFL power. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the match-up may be too much for the young Rams to handle...
