Yesterday, there was a rumor floating around that Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is close to receiving a five-year contract extension. The rumor was put out there by a guy who claims to be LeRoy Butler on twitter, and who all evidence points to actually being LeRoy Butler. Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin did a bit of digging and according to his sources, Butler's claim (or whoever @Leap36 is, if it is not Butler), was false. "Checked in with someone who'd know if @AaronRodgers12 was getting a contract extension. The reply? "100% false. There have been zero negotiations. Nothing." That doesn't mean the Packers and Rodgers' agent, David Dunn, won't strike a deal down the road, or that the team hasn't started budgeting for a new deal. Dunn reps Rodgers, Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji, and Rodgers said last year he expected the other two to get new deals first. "

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It hasn't taken long for new Packers center Jeff Saturday to get comfortable snapping the ball to an NFL Most Valuable Player. Fantasy Football 2012 Bust Alert: WR Jordy Nelson
Fantasy football owners likely did not have Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson on their radar all that much heading into the 2011 season, as he had not had more than 45 receptions or two touchdowns in any of his first three NFL seasons and looked to be down the pecking order a little bit in the Packers' passing game. But he had a breakout season and became a difference...
Hargrove to Appeal Suspension Today: Agent Rips Into NFL
Hargrove appeals suspension today.
Anthony Hargrove and the three other players suspended in the “BountyGate” scandal will have their appeals heard today by none other than the man who handed them out, Roger Goodell. That is one big bone of contention for the players and their representatives, who previously pushed for an impartial arbitrator but lost that battle.
According to...
Green Bay Packers 2012: Post OTA Roster Breakdown by Position.

Shakeup At Inside Linebacker Possible For Packers
The way Pro Football Weekly hears it, Packers inside linebacker A.J. Hawk, a consistently weak link in coverage last season who was also typically a step slow against the run, could be on a pretty short leash, with second-year pro D.J. Smith having shown more than enough as a rookie to mount a serious challenge for the starting ILB job alongside Desmond Bishop. Its also worth noting...
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Says 'Not Much More You Can Do' For Player Safety

The coaching staff is high on D.J. Smith, but at this point, he's not going to challenge incumbent starters Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk. Smith said he's worried only about himself, not looking at who's ahead of him on the depth chart.
New Faces Provide Options on Defensive Line
Even without suspended Anthony Hargrove and Mike Neal, the Packers are deep and versatile up front. On paper, anyway, they can stop the run and rush the passer. Here's how that group shapes up, after conversations with Dom Capers and Mike Trgovac.

Committees Rule Running Attacks
The 300-carry running back is becoming a dinosaur, and the Packers are way ahead of that curve. Last year's team leader, Ryan Grant, had 134 carries — tied for 34th in the league.
