GREEN BAY, Wis. -- On his first-ever rushing attempt at Lambeau Field, Green Bay Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy suffered a concussion.
Lacy rushed for 10 yards on the play before Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather led with his helmet to take him down. There was no penalty on the play, but replays clearly showed that Meriweather made helmet-to-helmet contact with Lacy.
Lacy walked to the locker room with the Packers' training staff and was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion.
Early in the second quarter, Meriweather again led with his helmet in an attempt to tackle Green Bay's backup running back James Starks near the sideline. However, this time, Meriweather got the worst of it and was down on the field for several minutes. Meriweather eventually got up under his own power and walked off the field to the applause of Packers players and fans. Meriweather will miss the rest of the game with a concussion.
