The Green Bay Packers gave safety Morgan Burnett a nice payout before he reports for training camp by agreeing to terms on a four-year contract extension worth up to 26 million in new money, a source told FOX Sports. The deal is up there with some of the top contracts handed out to safeties in free agency this summer. It's more lucrative than the deals signed by LaRon Landry (Indianapolis Colts) and William Moore (Atlanta Falcons). Burnett will earn 15 million over the first two seasons of the contract, most of which is guaranteed money. Landry and Moore got 14 million each. Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson was the big winner this spring. He got 18 million over the first two years of a five-year, 41.25 million contract. Burnett, a third-round pick in 2010, is coming off a season in which he was credited for 123 tackles. He has five interceptions in the past two seasons combined. Burnett's deal has a base value of 25 million, with the extra 1 million coming in the form of Pro Bowl escalators. He clearly believes he'll soon earn that extra salary via continued solid play in a Packers secondary that got better last season after a brutal year in 2011.
