Found September 30, 2013 on The Pack Mentality:
The Packers made a move today by bringing up running back Michael Hill from the practice squad to the 53 man roster. The news comes courtesy of SB Nation: [T]he Packers have elected to sign Michael Hill, a running back from their practice squad. Hill, a rookie out of Missouri Western State, spent most of the offseason with the San Diego Chargers. The Packers signed him to their practice squad on September 30th following his release. The move does raise some questions about the Packers' running back situation. While Eddie Lacy did return to practice today, James Starks was absent. The Packers have a lot of injuries at the running back spot right now and Hill was added to presumably lend some depth to the position. The move does lend itself to questions over Stark's timetable for return and whether he'll be ready to play in Week 5 or later. The Packers also signed rookie receiver Reggie Dunn to the practice squad to fill Hill's old spot. He is known for his ability to return the ball on kickoffs well and he could be another potential candidate to be Green Bay's kickoff returner somewhere down the line.

Packers trying to figure out rash of hamstring injuries

The Green Bay Packers have had eight players suffer hamstring injuries since the beginning of training camp. Of those eight, they have missed 11 regular-season games, and the list includes three of their best defensive players: Clay Matthews, cornerback Casey Hayward, and safety Morgan Burnett. It doesn't seem likely that any NFL team would have a bigger risk for hamstring...

Green Bay Packers Add New Kick Returner

We knew that the  Packers were going to make a move, after releasing wide receiver/kick returner Jermey Ross last week. Many assumed that Green Bay would add a returner to fill Ross’ spot. Instead, the Packers have decided to sign Michael Hill, a running back from their practice squad. Hill, a rookie from Missouri Western State, spent the off-season with the San Diego Chargers...

Eddie Lacy 'full go,' but Clay Matthews and others remain sidelined

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- An early bye week didn't help six injured Green Bay Packers players return to full health, but rookie running back Eddie Lacy passed the concussion protocol and is medically cleared. "He's full go," coach Mike McCarthy said of Lacy during his Monday press conference. "I think the week off definitely helped him." Lacy was on the receiving...

Paging Packers Pass Rush: Nick Perry must dial it up.

It has been said over and over since the Packers got Clay Matthews in the 2009 draft, and he became a star. Matthews is good, but who is his sidekick? Over the years plenty of teams have paired their elite pass rushers with someone to help take the pressure off of him. In New York, the Giants paired Michael Strahan with Justin Tuck, then Tuck with Pierre-Paul. In Pittsburgh the Steelers...

Burnett coming back to Packers' secondary

The Green Bay Packers might have a new look in the secondary for Sunday's game against Detroit with the possible return of safety Morgan Burnett. Burnett has a new look, too. Last week, Burnett cut off the dreadlocks he's worn since his sophomore year in high school. ''My mom's been on my case for about five years about it, so it really made her day. I did it...

Taking Stock of the Packers Injured Players to Monitor This Week

The Green Bay Packers may have not like having a bye week so early in the schedule when the weekend began, but looking at the team now, it feels like a blessing in disguise. The Packers list of injuries runs as deep as it is filled with talent. Some of these guys should be fine (and we'll know more when the team suits up for its first practice of the week in a bit) but...

Update - Aaron Rodgers says he and McCarthy are all good. As we reported here (below) the two got heated on the sideline during the loss to the Bengals on Sunday. But on his weekly radio show today, Rodgers repeated his post game comments and that this is simply something that happens between QB and coach if they are passionate and committed to winning like these two are....

Jolly Making Plays While Shaking Off Rust

In 2009, Johnny Jolly's last full year in Green Bay, the Packers had the league's best run defense, giving up 83.3 yards a game. The run defense is much better this season after missing Jolly the past three seasons.

Burnett Back with Haircut, Healthy Hamstring

Morgan Burnett's return to the practice field highlights the Packers' return from their Week 4 bye. Several other key players, however, did not participate at Monday's practice.

A Sunday Without Packers Football

Remember when the NFL schedule was first announced for this season and we all learned that the Packers had their bye in Week 4 of the season? Good grief! That was waaaaay too early. Or so we thought. After being beset with injuries of various sorts -- concussions, hamstrings and who knows what else -- the Packers are a physically wounded team very early in the season. Many fans whom...
