The streakThe last time the Detroit Lions beat the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin -- mid-December of 1991 -- Erik Kramer was their quarterback and Mike Tomczak was somehow quarterbacking the Pack. The Packers were playing out a 4-12 season and the Lions were preparing for the playoffs as NFC Central Division champs. Detroit won 21-17. Since then -- over the next 20 years -- the Lions haven't won another game in Wisconsin and have been favored just once.As a great article by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn points out, "The Packers' 20-game winning streak at home against the Lions is the longest in National Football League regular-season history." Amazing. And the Packers are favored again in tonight's game, by 7 points.McGinn's article quotes former Packers General Manager, Ron Wolf, as reminding us that during this time span the Packers have had Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers -- both future Hall of Famers -- as the starting QBs. Detroit? Not....

Green Bay Packers run to victory

For the second week in a row the Green Bay Packers used a strong second half to secure a victory, this time it was against the Detroit Lions. It was a snowy night in Lambeau Field, but the adverse weather conditions didn’t slow down the Lions at first.  After the opening drive, the Lions jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead after a 12 play, 80-yard drive. With a chance to even the score...

Packers offense must shine vs. hungry Lions

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It's going to be a tight race over the final four games of the season between the Packers and Chicago Bears -- both with an 8-4 record -- to see which team enters the playoffs as the NFC North champion. If the Packers win out, it will be them, with the first of those four challenges happening Sunday night at Lambeau Field in potentially snowy conditions against...

Green Bay Packers go with a balanced look in win over the Lions

Balance was the word of the day for the Green Bay Packers on a snowy night at Lambeau Field. A breakdown of 32 rushing plays compared to 24 passing plays helped the Packers (9-4) overcome the Detroit Lions by the score of 27-20. Even the famous and tremendously funny Will Ferrell was digging the Packers on this night with his winter knit Packers cap and a performance of “Roll Out...

Two Green Bay Packer rookies scored touchdowns leading to a 27-20 victory over the Detroit Lions Sunday night, marking the 22nd straight year Detroit has lost in Wisconsin versus Green Bay."I was thinking this would be a waste of a beautiful day, to end that streak," Rodgers said. Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers:Three Bold Predictions

A singular game in December.Cold wind snaps into you like a Suh kick to the man zone, you awake to find yourself at a tailgate of epic proportions, as human heart attacks lumber through the parking lot of Lambeau field preparing themselves for the game by drinking a supertanker of beer and washing it down with cheddar cheese.Make no mistake, these fans don't like each other and...

Packers rookies key cogs in win over Lions

GREEN BAY, Wis. Mike Daniels. DuJuan Harris. These two lesser-known Packers rookies were the difference in the team's 27-20 victory Sunday night over the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. Touchdowns by Daniels -- a defensive lineman who scored on a fumble recovery -- and Harris -- an undrafted first-year player who was added to the active roster Dec. 1 -- sparked Green Bay'...

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It wasn't a dominating performance by the Packers, but it was another win; their seventh victory in the last eight games. Packers hold off Lions 27-20, lead NFC North

The Green Bay Packers did what they needed to do last night in the snow flurries at Lambeau Field: beat an inferior team in the guise of the Detroit Lions, 27-20 (my prediction was 24-17...close!). In the process, the Packers kept their Wisconsin winning streak over the Lions going, now at 22 games. The last time Detroit won a game in the Badger state was 1991. There might even be...

Packers beat Lions 27-20, take NFC North lead

While other teams face complicated playoff scenarios and confusing tiebreakers, the task is quite simple for the Green Bay Packers. Beat the Bears at Soldier Field next weekend and the NFC North title is theirs. The Packers opened a one-game lead over Chicago with their 27-20 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. The Bears had lost at Minnesota a few hours earlier, ceding...

LB Matthews, S Woodson among sidelined Packers

Mike McCarthy likes the forecast for Sunday night. ''Well, we live in Green Bay, Wisconsin, so snow's going to happen,'' the Packers coach said Friday. ''I hope it does snow. I think it'd be great. It's a great setting. Personally, I think snow's fun to play in, so I think our players will enjoy it.'' The Packers host Detroit on Sunday...

Packers maintain home dominance of Lions

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- When it's not Aaron Rodgers, it's Mike Daniels and DuJuan Harris. So it goes for the Green Bay Packers, who took over first place in the NFC North and extended their NFL-record, 22-game, head-to-head home winning streak against the Detroit Lions by earning a 27-20 victory Sunday night at snowy Lambeau Field. Green Bay, getting touchdowns from two unlikely...
