GREEN BAY, Wis. One day after being released from jail for suspicion of domestic violence, Packers linebacker Erik Walden addressed the media inside Lambeau Field to apologize for his arrest over the Thanksgiving weekend. Walden met with coach Mike McCarthy on Tuesday, but did not reveal what was discussed in their conversation. When asked if he had resigned himself to the possibility of not playing in Green Bay's upcoming game at the New York Giants on Sunday, Walden said "absolutely." McCarthy was not available to the media Tuesday. Walden was arrested early Friday morning at the apartment he shared with his live-in girlfriend after she was treated at a local hospital for a head laceration from falling onto a bed's headboard. Walden spent the entire weekend in jail due to the courts being closed for the holiday. He was released Monday after posting a 1,000 signature bond following his hearing. "I want to apologize to the entire organization, teammates and the fans," Walden said in his opening statement Tuesday. "It's an ongoing process, I respect that process and it's unfortunate that I brought something negative from so much positive that's going on with this organization." Walden's next scheduled court date is Dec. 7, three days after the undefeated Packers will have traveled to New York for their Week 13 game. Initially, Walden's girlfriend told police that she was pushed by the fourth-year NFL player during an argument that led to her injuries. But County District Attorney John Zakowsi said Monday that she changed her story to say that she hit him first. Walden was asked Tuesday about how he would respond to Packers fans who want to feel like they're cheering for "good people." "Again, I just want to apologize," Walden said in response. "I feel terrible about the situation. I'm just ready to move on and play football." Walden said his teammates are "talking about the Giants" and not his legal situation. Walden has started every game this season for Green Bay and has three sacks and 41 tackles on the way to an 11-0 start. He appeared in the Packers' Super Bowl win last season and earned a championship ring but did not record any sacks or tackles in that game. Follow Paul Imig on Twitter
