Greg Gabriel at the National Football Post (a great website that I highly recommend) recently published an article entitled “How clubs strategize for free agency and the draft” which postulates an interesting idea that when picking at a certain position in the draft, a team can expect a certain number of players at a position to be picked ahead of them (if that sounds confusing please check out his article where he goes more indepth in the concept). For instance, if a team just won the Super Bowl and is picking last in the 1st round and is interested in drafting a quarterback, they can reasonably expect to see the 3rd or 4th best quarterback still available because on average 2-3 quarterbacks get drafted in the 1st round. If you think about it, there are only so many “can’t miss” 1st round draft picks produced every year and usually their positions are disturbed rather evenly (factored in with the nature of the NFL). Obviously some years can be strong years for certain positions,...

Barring any late change of heart or mind, Green Bay Packers center Scott Wells will get to the start of free agency without a new contract from the Packers.
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Wells “appears headed for free agency barring a last-minute deal.” The sides are still far...

Packers won't be aggressive in free agency
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It has been six years since Packers general manager Ted Thompson made a significant move in free agency. In 2006, with Thompson in his second offseason as the man behind the yellow and green curtain, he did what would now be considered very un-Thompson-like by signing two high-priced free agents in cornerback Charles Woodson and defensive lineman Ryan Pickett....

Jennings: Players care about fantasy football
Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings may have just officially put an end to the question of whether NFL players care about their fantasy football production.

Packers Likely Will Lose Wells Once FA Begins
Two sources have told Packer Report that center Scott Wells will be leaving Green Bay today. The Packers are kicking the tires on at least two free agents and have turned focus to the draft.
Free Agents That Could Help Packers
Seattle's Bryant is a very underrated defensive lineman
The start of free agency on Tuesday is like an unofficial holiday for many NFL fans, but for Cheeseheads, Tuesday is just the second day of another work week. That’s because the Packers haven’t signed a meaningful free agent in the past three years. General manager Ted Thompson doesn’t figure to change his ways this...

Surviving Sundays With No Packers Football
I was watching the Minnesota Gophers play the Michigan Wolverines in the Big 10 tournament on Friday night and somehow the end of the game made me think about the NFL.
