One day after the Detroit Lions second round draft pick Mikel LeShoure was busted on Marijuana Possession charges, the Lions first round pick Nick Fairley busted on the same charges.
Fairley was busted in Mobile Alabama on second degree possession charges and driving on a suspended drivers license. He missed a few games due to injury last season, coming in to finish the year with 15 tackles and a sack, but now he’ll most likely miss a few games for having a different sack on his stat line (You’ll get it, eventually).
Last week at the NFL’s Owners meetings Lions head coach spoke highly of Fairley saying ”Nick is a very talented player, and Nick flashed everything that he needs to be an impact player in the National Football League, and he was, in spots, last year,” Schwartz said according to the Detroit Free-Press. “He just wasn’t consistent, and he wasn’t healthy enough to be on the field enough for us.”
I would imagine that the Lions will have to go without these two for at least the first four weeks of the season due to the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
