TEMPE, Ariz. Carson Palmer has worked with plenty of top-end receivers in his 10-year NFL career. He had Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens and T.J. Houshmandzadeh at various stages of his seven-year run in Cincinnati. Despite that lengthy brush with greatness, Palmer is at a loss for words when trying to describe what he sees in Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Ive been around him long enough to get a good feel for him, so thats not the problem, but I still cant put my finger on it, the Cardinals quarterback said. Theres not just one thing that separates him. He can do it all and hes done it all, and yet hes not finished. Hes just special. Fitzgeralds special talents have been on display for nine seasons in Arizona, and he has topped 1,000 yards five times in the last six seasons. But those impressive stats are precisely why the presence of Palmer is so tantalizing in its possibilities. Fitzgerald may have dropped to 798 yards, four TDs and a career-low 11.2 yards per catch last season when the Cardinals' quarterback play was mostly abysmal. But what might he do with a more accomplished quarterback, even if that quarterback is not Kurt Warner? He can throw the ball, Fitzgerald said emphatically of Palmer. Hes got great touch on intermediate passes, he can put zip on them or he can feather it in there. Hes got a tremendous arm, and then hes got the intelligence and the experience to go out there and make plays. Ive seen him do it. He threw for 4,000 yards in Oakland! Palmer insists that it is not too early to have already developed chemistry with Fitzgerald, even if the team just traded for Palmer two months ago. Youd better have a rapport going and good chemistry by now, Palmer said Thursday. Were through OTAs and weve been throwing all offseason. We could play together for 15 years and its never (going to be) perfect. Its always a work in progress -- something were trying to make better and better -- but we have a good start going into vet minicamp, and thats three more long hard practices where we get a lot of opportunities. Thats a good kickoff to training camp. Fitzgerald admitted that just about everybody is a bit behind the learning curve as they get familiar with coach Bruce Arians multi-faceted, multi-layered passing offense. Were just trying to pick it up and learn all the nuances, Fitzgerald said. Arians is also being patient while Fitzgerald adapts to a new role in which he is playing all three receiver positions. It takes time ... especially with Larry in multiple positions now, Arians said. That takes well into training camp before theyre very comfortable with where theyre headed on each play against each coverage. But there is one welcome change at quarterback that Fitzgerald believes has made an immediate impact. Just that veteran presence, he said. This offense is intricate, but having that veteran presence in the huddle and in the meeting rooms has been fantastic for me. Even in OTAs, Palmer is getting a sense of Fitzgeralds tendencies. Just body language with routes, Palmer said. Theres a lot of reading on the run in this offense and seeing the same things and being on the same page for the right depths of routes and breaking in the right depths. And when Palmer makes a mistake or thinks that he and Fitzgerald are yet not on the same page, thats when he gets occasional glimpses of Fitzgeralds unique abilities. I threw him a ball today that he and maybe Megatron (Detroits Calvin Johnson) catch, Palmer said. Hes maybe not one of a kind, but one of two of a kind. Its pretty comforting. Larry Fitzgerald: learning new offense is 'like being pushed into a cold tub every morning'

For the first time since 2007, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is having to study at night during the offseason—along with head coach Bruce Arians—in order to learn three positions in a new offense. As Kent Somers of notes, Fitzgerald is often “uncomfortable, unsure and left wondering how much he really knows about playing receiver” in his...

Brown's return to play big role in Cardinals' success

TEMPE, Ariz. When the Cardinals began offseason workouts, Levi Brown was relegated to conditioning and strengthening exercises as he recovered from last seasons surgery to repair a torn triceps tendon. Brown wasnt particularly happy about the limited role, even grumbling about it to local media. I guess they overheard, Brown quipped on Thursday. They got me right back out there...

2013 NFL Scouting: Can Carson Palmer Regain His Form in 2013?

When he arrived in Arizona in 2005, Kurt Warner's career looked to be over. In the previous seasons he'd given way to two younger quarterbacks (Marc Bulger and Eli Manning), and he'd just signed a two year deal with the Cardinals to be a place holder until Arizona drafted their quarterback of the future. Instead, Warner revived his career and ended up leading his new...

Larry Fitzgerald Moved Around Cardinals Offense

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic wrote Wednesday that new Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is taking some drastic measures to ensure Larry Fitzgerald once again becomes the centerpiece for the Cardinal offense in 2013. Arians is reportedly working out Fitzgerald at more than just the primary “X” receiver position, but also as the “Z” and slot positions as well...

Johnny Manziel and Ryan Swope Star in Country Music VIdeo

The bar is set pretty high for whomever wins the next Heisman trophy thanks to Jonnny Manziel. Johnny Football has had a heck of year since becoming the first freshman to ever win college football's most prestigious award. I'm talking partying with all sorts of stars, hanging out with the elite that the NBA has to offer, a smoking hot girlfriend, been on every talk...

Report: Nothing imminent between the Jaguars and Beanie Wells

According to the Florida Times-Union, nothing is imminent between the Jaguars and free agent running back Beanie Wells after Thursday’s workout. Visiting with Wells should be viewed more as the Jaguars doing their homework instead of concern over the availability of Maurice Jones-Drew (still rehabilitating from foot surgery) and the lack of experience at the position. The Jaguars...

Beanie Wells Makes A Visit To Jacksonville

There are very few players in the NFL that I loathe more than Chris “Beanie” Wells but today he made the news by getting a visit with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He did get an early look from the Steelers and Bengals back in March but his knee was still an issue and neither team really considered him. And after a lengthy time with no sign of life from the Wells camp, he is getting...

Free Agent Running Back Rumors: Beanie Wells, Ahmad Bradshaw

Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports Thursday that the Jacksonville Jaguars will host free agent rusher Beanie Wells later in the day for a workout. Wells, a former first-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals, has spent his entire NFL career in the desert. Last season, he was placed on Injury Reserve in late September but was “designated” for a return, per the new...

SOURCE: Ryan O'Halloran, Florida Times-UnionFantasy Spin:Teams have been skeptical about signing Wells because of his injury history. Jacksonville's backfield already includes Pro Bowler Maurice Jones-Drew, Justin Forsett and rookie Denard Robinson. That doesn't leave many carries...
