Inside The Panthers:
The Panthers continued what by their recent standards was a busy day by agreeing to a one-year deal with former San Francisco defensive back Marcus Hudson. Earlier Monday, they signed reserve offensive lineman Rob Petitti. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has been a solid special teams player and occasional cornerback for the 49ers. He played his first two seasons with the 49ers under assistant special teams coach Jeff Rodgers, who is now the Panthers special teams coach. The 27-year-old Hudson has played in 48 games with the 49ers, but no starts. He was a safety at N.C. State, and has worked there as well for the 49ers, getting most of his action in nickel and dime situations. Hudson makes the third offseason acquisition, with their previous signings of WR Wallace Wright and Petitti.— Darin Gantt
