The Panthers were in desperate need of a win after a series of close defeats that had players questioning whether the team had any leadership. Newton responded with one of his best games of the season, including a 19-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith and an 82-yard completion that set up a score. Robert Griffin III was 23 for 39 for 215 yards, ran 11 times for 53 yards and was sacked four times as the Redskins lost their third straight and fell to 3-6. High school QB ejected from game for impersonating Cam Newton

We teach our young football players to work hard, play harder and to win and lose with dignity.  But we can not always cast a larger shadow than the pro athletes that they aspire to emulate. Take the case of a young North Carolina quarterback by the name of Jalan McClendon who obviously looks up to Cam Newton.  Please Click Here To Read This Article

Cam Newton says he’s very close to Michael Jordan

Last week, former NBA great Michael Jordan chimed in Cam Newton’s struggles this season. “Obviously he’s trying to put a lot of things on his back and that’s human nature. Sometimes when you expect so many great things you want to carry that burden yourself. And its virtually impossible,” Jordan told Tom Sorensen of the Charlotte Observer. “He’s got to look at himself...

Panthers, Newton get jolt of confidence after win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Cam Newton's Superman celebration returned Sunday. So did that confident look on the face of the Carolina's second-year quarterback, a fact that wasn't lost on Panthers coach Ron Rivera. Rivera said Monday that Newton and his teammates gained some much needed confidence following a 21-13 win Sunday over the Washington Redskins. Now he can only...

Robert Griffin III Turns Down Comparison to Cam Newton for 'Someone Who Has Won Super Bowls'

Robert Griffin III seems like a nice enough guy. But it sure sounded like a slam on 2012's favorite NFL punching bag, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, when Griffin turned down a comparison with the other young signal caller this week. "I'd rather be compared to an Aaron Rodgers or a guy like that," Griffin told the Washington Times. "Someone...

NFL officials incorrectly award Panthers with touchdown

The Officials in the Carolina Panthers-Washington Redskins game should not have blown a whistle during a DeAngelo Williams 30-yard touchdown run Sunday and they also shouldn't have rewarded the Panthers with the touchdown. An official, who thought Williams went out of bounds blew an inadvertent whistle while Williams was at the Redskins 17-yard line and on his to the endzone...

Catching up with rookie QB crop

In 2011, five rookie quarterbacks actually started games, but only two of them were named the starter for the season opener: Cam Newton and Andy Dalton. Interestingly enough, Newton and Dalton became the first pair of rookie QBs named to the Pro Bowl in league history and were just the fifth and sixth rookie quarterbacks ever to be selected. Three of those six now reside in the Hall...

Week 9 has arrived and the games aren’t getting any easier to pick. There are still some teams that we don’t have a read on yet. Are any of us sure of what Cowboy team will show up this week? Panthers snap losing streak in D.C.

After Robert Griffin III was buried in a pile near the goal line, Cam Newton took over and led a 98-yard drive - bloody thumb and all. His abilities as a leader in question and his team in desperate need of positive morale - not to mention a win - Newton got the better of the first NFL matchup between the last two Heisman Trophy winners Sunday as the Carolina Panthers broke a five...
