The Panthers announced they've traded running back Mike Goodson to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for offensive tackle Bruce Campbell.
Goodson, who ran for 501 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with Carolina, became expendable after the team signed free agent running back Mike Tolbert earlier this offseason.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Campbell played in four games for the Raiders in 2011. As a rookie in 2010, he played in 10 games, primarily on special teams, after being selected by Oakland in the fourth round.
Panthers GM Marty Hurney says Campbell ''is a very young, talented offensive lineman who has all the physical qualities to play in this league.''
Campbell played guard his first two seasons with the Raiders but the Panthers will look at moving him to tackle.

The Oakland Raiders announced they have traded OG/OT Bruce Campbell to the Carolina Panthers for; Running Back Mike Goodson. I am personally a big fan of this trade. It gives us some much-needed Running Back depth. Second-year RB Taiwan Jones has potential, but he is young, and frankly… his running-style is not compatible with the [...]
The Raiders continued their solid, if unspectacular, offseason yesterday by making two moves that will pay big dividends for the team in the next year.
Specifically, the Raiders traded for former Panthers RB Mike Goodson and signed FA LB Philip Wheeler who had visited the team earlier in the week.
Starting with Goodson, because that move happened earlier in the day, around 1pm...
About 3 weeks ago, I wrote a post-combine Mock Draft, without clear-cut information , I had to assume the compensatory picks the Oakland Raiders would receive. Earlier in the week the NFL announced the Raiders would receive; 3rd round (95th overall), 4th round (129th overall), and 5th round (168th overall) compensatory picks, along with 5th [...]
The Oakland Raiders made some serious moves for Terrelle Pryor, was it worth it? Well, we all know Carson Palmer is the head of the class in Oakland with experience and his ability to be a good pocket passer, but what he is not known for is his scrambling or mobility. Enter Terrelle Pryor. He

The Oakland Raiders will be hosting Philip Wheeler on Thursday at the team facility in Alameda. The news on Wheeler’s visit was first reported by Jason La Canfora via Twitter. According to ProFootballWeekly.com, general manager Reggie McKenzie and the Oakland Raiders would love to lock up safety Tyvon Branch to a long-term extension this offseason, after placing the franchise tag on him about a month ago.
The Raiders have been very happy with Branch’s progression over the past four seasons and want to make sure he sticks around.
If the Raiders are able...
There are plenty of people across the NFL who do not care for Jeremy Shockey. He has a reputation for being a loud mouth and has been accused of being a lousy teammate. That doesn’t mean it was right when Warren Sapp accused him of being the person who ratted out the Saints for running a bounty program. Sapp had nothing to support his claim, which is why the NFL Network wound up...
Will Donavon McNabb and Terrell Owens reunite in Oakland? (Image courtesy of Al Tielemans)
The Oakland Raiders will pursue free agents Donavon McNabb, Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice, according to an anonymous tip. Oakland is looking for “the final pieces” to make a Super Bowl run.
“We feel that with these players, we would instantly become Super Bowl contenders,” said Raiders...
A week before free agency opened, the Carolina Panthers were among the teams over the NFL's salary cap, forcing a few cuts and restructures.
That's limited much of what they were going to do in the market -- though it wasn't going to be much anyway.
Free agent linebacker Phillip Wheeler announced on his Twitter page that he was heading to Oakland to visit with the Raiders.
The 27 year-old Wheeler has been playing for the Indianapolis Colts for the past four seasons, and put up some nice numbers in 2011 with 84 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble.
Wheeler would help the Raiders add depth at linebacker, as well as participate on special teams.

Reggie McKenzie and the cap-strapped Oakland Raiders have their hands full as they work slowly but surely during the offseason to improve the roster with little cap room and add much-needed discipline to restore the regime.
After Kamerion Wimbley took his talents to the Tennessee Titans and Manny Lawson re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, the Raiders...
According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the Oakland Raiders have signed free agent linebacker Philip Wheeler to a one-year deal.
Wheeler has been with the Indianapolis Colts for the past four seasons and they were hoping to re-sign him, in order to use him as an outside linebacker in their new 3-4 scheme.
Wheeler will now head west and hope to make an impact for the silver and black.
