But they never really filled that spot, much to the angst of their fan base. The only move of note was claiming Darius Butler off waivers from New England.

Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl left tackle Jordan Gross is inactive for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons with a right ankle injury.
Gross injured his ankle in last week's win over Tampa Bay.

In a recent interview with Steveland Wilson of ESPN The Magazine, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton went into an interesting treatise about the culture of winning, and his own role in rebuilding the Panthers.
