The Panthers have increased the workload of injured linebacker Thomas Davis, and coach Ron Rivera is optimistic Davis could play Sunday against the Jets. Davis, trying to become the first player to come back from three ACL surgeries on the same knee, injured his calf on the second night of training camp and has been slowly making progress since. Rivera thought Davis looked good Monday and left open the possibility he could play in the third exhibition against the Jets. Absolutely. If Thomas is feeling strong enough and we feel he's made a strong enough recovery we feel that he'll play, Rivera said. He looks good right now. The nice thing is he'll have tomorrow off and we'll see him back here Wednesday.
