In advance of training camp, which begins in four days, the Panthers were wheeling and dealing on Monday.
Earlier in the day, the team traded a late-round conditional draft choice to the Raiders for receiver Louis Murphy.
The 25-year-old Murphy was on the roster bubble in Oakland, and looked to be the odd man out of a crowded WR corps. The Raiders did well acquiring a pick for him.
In Carolina, Murphy brings depth to a position where there isn’t much, and, assuming he makes the team, figures to provide a nice deep outlet for quarterback Cam Newton.
Later, a more notable move took place when it was reported that the Panthers had shipped right tackle Jeff Otah to the Jets in exchange for … you guessed it, an undisclosed late-round pick.
The No. 19 overall selection in the 2008 draft, Otah is an immensely talented player and equally massive individual — 6-foot-6, 330 pounds. However, he’s missed all but four games the past two seasons due to back and knee injuries, and some within the ...

The Oakland Raiders have officially announced that they have traded Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers. The transaction, which was first reported this morning by Yahoo’s Jason Cole via Twitter, sends Oakland’s top wide receiver in 2009 and 2010 to the NFC South in exchange for a “conditional draft pick.” Neither team has disclosed the [...]
The Oakland Raiders traded Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers for an conditional 7th round draft pick and now the Raiders don’t have to worry about spilled milk in Murphy anymore. Louis Murphy has been underwhelming as a wide receiver last year and most Raider fans have been worrying about what to do with Murphy. Releasing Murphy after [...]
According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, the Oakland Raiders have traded wide receiver Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers.
The Raiders are loaded with young talent at the receiver position and Murphy didn’t have a great year in 2011 after only recording 15 receptions for 241 yards.
We don’t know what the Raiders have received in compensation just yet. I would...
The Raiders have traded wide receiver Louis Murphy to the Panthers in the second trade between the teams in four months, according to multiple reports. What Oakland received in return wasn't immediately known. Murphy has 90 career receptions for 1,371 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons since being a fourth-round pick out of Florida. However, he posted career lows of...
Trade for Panthers: The Panthers were busy today, trading a conditional late round pick for Louis Murphy and then trading Jeff Otah for a conditional late round pick to the Jets (no word yet if those two are the same conditional late round picks). Otah was once one of the best right tackles in the game, but he’s played just 4 games over the last 2 seasons due to a variety of injuries...
Today the Jets have announced they have traded a conditional draft pick for Carolina Panthers Tackle, Jeff Otah.Otah was the 19th overall pick in 2008, but has only played in four games in the past two seasons. He missed all of 2010 with a knee injury and played in two of six games in 2011 because of reoccurring knee issues.According to reports, Otah will make $1.1 million and...
Do you hear that New York Jets fans? It’s the hallelujah chorus that spontaneously assembled after the news broke that the Jets acquired Jeff Otah, an offensive tackle from the Carolina Panthers. He will likely replace Wayne Hunter at right tackle, who infamously struggled all last season. This move is a long time coming for [...]
The New York Jets have acquired offensive tackle Jeff Otah from the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed draft pick. Jeff Otah was the 19th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and has played well in action, although his health is a real concern for the New York Jets. If healthy, Jeff Otah can become a major upgrade over current right tackle Wayne Hunter, but that’s a big if according...
Right tackle Jeff Otah was acquired by the Jets, who sent an undisclosed conditional draft pick to Carolina. Otah was a first-round pick by the Panthers in 2008, and was viewed as one of the best young right tackles in the game. He helped pave the way for running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart to become the first teammates in NFL history to each run for more than...
The Panthers finally gave up on former first round pick Jeff Otah on Monday, agreeing to a deal that would send the oft-injured offensive lineman to the New York Jets for a conditional seventh-round pick.
The New York Jets acquired offensive tackle Jeff Otah from the Carolina Panthers for a conditional seventh-round pick in next year’s draft. So why didn’t the Packers go after the talented 26-year-old? After all, left tackle is the one position on offense that figures to be a question mark when the regular season begins in [...]
