TEAMS: Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos
The Carolina Panthers' pass rush has proven to a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season.
Defensive ends Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy have combined for 15 sacks in the past six games making them the NFL's second-most productive sack tandem in the league behind only Denver's Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera says he wouldn't trade his duo for any in the NFL.
Despite the team's 2-7 record, Rivera likes the improvement he's seen on defense, saying, ''as our defensive line has grown, our defense has gotten better.''
Carolina's defense has held opposing offenses to 20 points or less in each of their last five games. Unfortunately for the Panthers, four of those games have resulted in defeats.
Carolina hosts Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Carolina Panther transforms into crazy alter ego on gamedays
Getting in the zone on gamedays is something all NFL players are faced with. Some prefer energy drinks to get them amped up, others use music, and one member of the Carolina Panthers even uses his alter ego to channel a giant sea monster he calls "Kraken".Every gameday, defensive end Greg Hardy paints his face black, slips in black or white-colored contact lenses, and applies...
Panthers sign Bridges to help struggling O-line
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Panthers announced they've signed free agent guard Jeremy Bridges to serve as a stop-gap for their struggling offensive line. Carolina surrendered seven sacks during Sunday's 36-14 loss to the Denver Broncos, tied for the third-most allowed in team history. The 32-year-old Bridges is expected to step in and compete for a starting spot right away...
Bridges burned: Panthers sign former Cardinal
TEMPE, Ariz. -- When we last caught up with offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges three weeks ago two weeks before the Cardinals waived him it was clear he was unhappy the team had chosen to place him on injured reserve Sept. 2 with torn thumb ligaments that required surgery.
Bridges was certain he would be able to come back by midseason, and that has proven true. The Cards reached...
Panthers look to halt struggles vs. Bucs
The most promising aspect of the Carolina Panthers remaining schedule is that thereisn'ta Manning left on the slate.
They have come and gone, leaving the Queen City with emphatic victories. Eli and the New York Giants took apart the Panthers 36-7 on a Thursday night in mid-September, and this past Sunday, Peyton and the Denver Broncos cashed in on defense and special teams to...
Carolina Panthers: Week 11 NFL Power Rankings (#29)
Last week: 29 (+0)
Record: 2-7
Last week’s loss was only their 2nd loss by more than a touchdown all year. They aren’t to be overlooked the rest of the way. Cam Newton is obviously having a major sophomore slump, but for all of their offensive struggles, they’ve been noticeably improved defensively this year. They’re allowing 3 points per game fewer than they were last year...
Week 10 NFL Recap: Denver Broncos at Carolina Panthers
Carolina needs so much help it’s not even funny anymore. A touchdown in the first quarter, then one for good measure in the fourth. Ho hum. Nothing much to see here except for punt returns which should not have counted and Peyton Manning’s inability to throw for more than one touchdown against the Carolina Panthers. I mean, yeah, sure, the Broncos beat the Panthers by 22 points...

Rivera makes change in special teams coach
A day after Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was sacked a career-high seven times, head coach Ron Rivera sacked someone himself. But instead of trying to fix the team’s inconsistent offense, Rivera fired the coach of another trouble spot: special teams. Rivera replaced special teams coordinator Brian Murphy with assistant special teams coach Richard Rodgers, Rivera’s college...
