Pro Sports Daily:
After starting safeties Charles Godfrey and Quintin Mikell limped through the visitors locker room on crutches each with his right foot in a protective boot defensive back D.J. Moore walked in with his left knee in a brace.
The Panthers lost three starting defensive backs in Sunday’s 24-23 loss to Buffalo but Moore was thought to be one of the healthy ones. It turned out Moore sprained a knee ligament early in the second half but stayed in the game.
“The way I felt running out there it didn’t feel good” Moore said. “I knew we didn’t have anybody left.”
It was that kind of day for a depleted secondary.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Godfrey’s Achilles injury was the worst of the bunch. Godfrey would not say whether the Achilles was torn but two of his teammates said they thought he was done for the season.
“The docs have to look at it and let me know” Godfrey said. “They said they’re going to look at the X-rays a little bit more when we get back.”
Losing Godfrey would be a blow

Cam Newton vs. Buffalo - After a disappointing preseason the Carolina Panthers mustered just seven points in their opener at home last week. It is hard to get behind Mike Shula’s offense and while we’re just one week in, those who paid a high price for Cam Newton on draft day are starting to sweat it a bit. This week their fears will be erased. While the stat line was ugly,...
The track record for 0-2 teams making the playoffs since 2008 may tell the Carolina Panthers their season is over. But let’s hold off on that. The NFL is full of 1-1 teams right now, including San Francisco, Green Bay and the Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens. What is telling is that the Panthers continue to lose games they should win.

Ever since Cam Newton has taken over for the Panthers they have had bad starts to the season. They normally pick it up toward the end of the season, but by then it is too late.
This year it hasn’t been any different and Steve Smith has a theory on it.
“What the current issue is, you have a young player pressing,” Smith said. “And what do I mean by pressing? You know when...

Last year the cacophony was deafening as Carolina Panthers fans clamored for head coach Ron Rivera to be fired. Fans of rival teams joined in the chorus, insisting Rivera was not head coach material. I fought them. I debated them. I said he took over a 2-14 team. I said that the numerous late-game losses […]The post I was wrong: A fan’s take on Ron Rivera by Robert J. Russ appeared...
The Carolina Panthers suffered a devastating 12-7 loss in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. Not only did the Panthers lose the game but they also lost starting right guard Garry Williams for the season with a torn ACL. Carolina DB Josh Norman has a sprained MCL, according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer.Fantasy Spin:Add him to the list of injured Panthers pass defenders. Its a long list with Charles Godfrey out for the season and both Quintin Mikell and D.J. Moore hurting. The Giants should have a field day in Week 3.

Silatolu's returns provides the Panthers a boost after right guard Gary Williams sustained a season-ending left knee injury in a 12-7 loss to Seattle last weekend. Chris Scott started in place of Williams against Buffalo.

Coach Ron Rivera said the Panthers have to find a way to close out games if they're ever going to take the next step as a football team.
So far that hasn't happened.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think Steve Smith runs in Kerry Rhodes’ circle.
