The Panthers shocked the Texans with a 28-13 upset win at Reliant Stadium. Carolina improves to 5-9 while Houston drops to 10-4, but should shake it off as they already clinched the AFC South division title.
Quarterback Cam Newton dazzled against a dominant defense as he completed 13 of 23 passes for 149 yards, with two touchdowns against no interceptions. He also gained 55 rushing yards on seven attempts. He needs three more touchdown passes to reach 20 for his rookie campaign. DeAngelo Williams led the ground attack with 61 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, while Jonathan Stewart had 43 yards on 11 totes. Steve Smith burned the secondary with five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown, and ended a three-game skid without reaching the ends zone.
