The Carolina Panthers have reached agreements with nose tackle Ron Fields and guard Reggie Wells.
Foster is expected to provide a veteran presence to a young defensive line that includes rookies Sione Fua and Terrelle McClain.
Wells has started 91 games during his eight-year career.
The Panthers will place linebacker Jon Beason on injured reserve Wednesday with a torn Achilles' to clear room on the roster.
