Welcome to Carolina, Dwan Edwards. Or sorry, DWON Edwards, as the Carolina Panthers website announced on their front page (see above image).

Edwards, a defensive tackle who was recently cut by the Buffalo Bills, found a new home today when he signed with the Panthers. However, Carolina’s website was unable to spell the seven-year veteran’s name correctly. It is DWAN Edwards, not Dwon. The “o” is nowhere near the “a” on a keyboard. This is not a typo. Just a bad, bad mistake.

Edwards is expected to replace recently cut Terrell McClain, a 2011 third-round pick who was sent packing after only one year in Carolina. McClain was part of a Panthers run defense that ranked 25th in the league last year. Edwards is expected to shore up the Panthers line in run support, but that might be asking too much, since he spent the last two years as part of a Buffalo Bills defense that ranked 32nd and 28th in run defense the past two years, respectively.
