Over the years, JoeSportsFan has proactively established the unofficial Jersey Wearing Rules for sporting events and also took the initiative to nominate ourselves as judge and jury determining if a spectator has in fact violated said rules (at least in our own minds). But that doesn’t mean that a case won’t occasionally come up that isn’t exactly open and shut.
When inside of a stadium watching a game, we’ve always claimed it’s a bit unusual to wear the jersey of a third party team who isn’t playing in the game you paid to see. It’s even more unusual to wear the jersey of a third party team that doesn’t play the same sport. And it’s just downright bizarre to wear the jersey of a third party team that isn’t playing in the game, doesn’t play the same sport and doesn’t represent either city involved.
