Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson was kinda baited on this one, and it was certainly hook, line and sinker in his repsonse.
When asked if he believes he's the best cornerback in the NFL, Peterson replied, "I believe so", according to the Associated Press, via Yahoo Sports.
”I believe I’m playing at a top level right now. Week in and week out, I’m given the opposing team’s No. 1 receiver and I believe I’m handling that pretty well so far.”
Peterson is currently tied for second in the league with Giants safety Stevie Brown with seven interceptions each. The Bears' Tim Jennings leads the pack with eight.
We're not quite sure if Peterson could boast the claim of best in the league just yet, but you can't say he doesn't lack confidence. His teammate Kerry Rhodes thinks the confidence "works for him."
Peterson elaborated: ''I believe all the good corners have something in common, that's confidence in their ability to go out there and make plays for their team and themselves as well,'' he said. ''I believe the confidence started when I was back in high school. My dad, just something he always instilled in me as I was growing up - just always be confident in your ability and be confident in what you're doing at all times.''
